MIA's North Terminal - New Contractor Coming?

Fri Jun 10, 2005 3:13 am

Summary: county commissioners moved toward approving a deal that will hand over the problem-plagued way over budget and seriously behind schedule North Terminal project to a new construction management company to replace the one American Airlines selected for the project. The deal was recommended for approval at the commissioners' regional transportation committee meeting yesterday and is now subject to a full county commission vote.

The project would be taken over by Parsons Transportation Group and Odebrecht Construction, which is currently constructing the South Terminal and Concourse J on time and under budget. Turner Austin, the current construction manager, complained that their company was unfairly precluded from bidding on the new contract.
