A340-300E Range Question

Sat Jun 11, 2005 4:30 am

I know that CX has operated the A340-300E on SFO-HKG in the past, but thinking about now, would it be realistic to assume that the A340-300E can make a LAX-SYD (or LAX-HKG) flight non-stop with a full passenger and cargo load?

If not, what would be the passenger penalty should the airline choose to operate the flight non-stop with a belly full of cargo? Would 215 or so be around the max number of passengers caused by the weight restriction, or would it be much lower?

LAX-HKG, not a chance, remember when theyhave 346, one 346 when tech and have to be replace by a 343 at last minute(winter). On the return leg, pax load had to be limit to 165. Even when they have 343 doing SFO-HKG, visits to TPE/ICN were rather frequent, even today's YVR-HKG, there are numerous times when cargo have to loffload just to take the pax to HKG. I like Airbus, but not on those routes please.

CX have the A343X not the -300E.

An A343 could manage SYD/HKG-LAX with full pax. Cargo however, would be somewhat, if not fully restricted depending on time of year and direction.
