Question Re: Accruing CO Miles On SkTeam Airlines

Sun Jun 12, 2005 11:56 pm

This is a pretty straightforward question.

I recently flew several Alitalia flights, and I gave in my CO OnePass number at check-in. At the time I assumed that all SkyTeam partners had reciprocal mileage accrual deals. However, after my CO balance remained unchanged and I just got off the phone w/customer service, they tell me that I can't get CO miles on AZ, or AF for that matter.

Forgive my naivete, but isn't the point of SkyTeam/OneWorld/Star alliances that you could reciprocally accrue miles? I'm really annoyed at this! I flew AZ, when I could have taken other carriers, specifically for the miles! Anyone know if I could have accrued NW Worldperks miles with AZ?

In general, which SkyTeam partners do and don't have mileage deals? Can I get CO miles on KLM?

Even CO's very own wepage claims the same:

Earn OnePass miles with standard fares on Alitalia, with the following general exceptions: all free travel, industry-free or industry-reduced rate tickets, charter flights, promotional certificates and consolidator fares.

To receive mileage credit, present your OnePass number when you check in for your flight.

Travel Area for Mileage Accrual: All Alitalia- and Alitalia Express-operated flights systemwide

The integration of CO into SkyTeam has been done poorly. Even though you can earn CO miles on AF and AZ (I've gotten CO miles for AF flights this year), it seems that many customer service agents at both AF and CO are not aware of this.

Call them back.

I flew Hawaiian to Hawaii and inter-Island. You can only get miles inter-island, only miles only posted for half my inter-Island flights, so something isn't right with their partner airline credit system. Since I was only missing one 500 mile segment, I didn't bother with fixing it. I guess I'll kick myself if I'm 300 miles off of an elite tier in December.

How is it possible???? I've flown CO round trip CDG/EWR/CLE/EWR/CDG back in november 2004.
I gave my Frequence Plus card at CDG the departing day and I used it in CLE for an automatic checking for my travel back and I've got all the miles on my program!!!!
If I can have AF miles on CO flights, I dod not see why it is not possible to have CO miles on AF!!!
Flying is amazing!

Jay, I agree that you should get those miles credited. Fax a copy of your ticket (or your e-ticket receipt) together with copies of the boarding passes to OnePass and you should receive the miles. It is sad that SkyTeam has not been able to integrate CO, NW and KL as fast and seemlessly as expected.
Next flights: MEX-LAX AM 738, LAX-PVG DL 77L, SHA-PEK CA 789, PEK-PVG CA A332, PVG-ORD MU 77W, ORD-MEX AM 738

Thanks Eddie, and everyone else. Hopefully I just got a bad customer service rep. I'll try again.

The integration of CO, NW, and KL has been abyssmal, and it's not just a mileage question. Through checkin is not possible on some itineraries (it's just like interlining from CO to UA or some such), and DL's website doesn't even allow you to enter a non-DL FF number. I love and am very loyal to NW/CO, but Skyteam has been a huge pain in my ass.
