Interesting summary of Airbus woes in current edition of Business Week Online. Can't post the link because of attached ads, but in summary:
6 month delay in A380 deliveries likely to cost $150-200m.
Emerates not ready to place major order for A350 so no major orders to announce at Paris.
Marketing A350 hampered by uncertainty over, design, financing and US trade complaints.
Competition from 787 likely to kick in from 08.
Problems with CEO.
Last years operating profit was $2.3b.
Order backlog still exceeds Boeing.
Profits expected to pick up as A380 development costs wind down.
Bottom line Airbus is there for the long haul. Not bad for a new competitor in a very hi tech market.
