Tue Jun 14, 2005 1:23 am

Just found out thru my Company e mail that we will be having the E190 in there not our livery at Gate 1 on the 14th of June. I was told there doin a B6 city tour so above and below the wing departments can see the layout. Can't wait to see the size of this belly.

Will it be going to any more locations? Would love to see it (again) here in FLL.

It most likely will be going to FLL. The last time they had the 175 here at JFK and it went to almost every city. As for a time. Your best bet will be around 9:30am. Oh, and as for the gate. It can change but for right now they are saying gate 1.

You'll see it for sure. When it flies into the US from Brazil they'll stop in FLL as Embraer has it's main US Office there.

What is the plane's route to the U.S.? Does it always stop in FLL even if it will be based in the west coast?

Thanks,

The other stops on the tour will probably include B6's Northeast cities: BOS, BUF, SYR, ROC, possibly BVT.

Edit: I know there will be a tour before it enters service, whether this is the start of it or not I don't know.

I thought there was a bureaucratic stop at GRU for whatever reason...? I've also seen a few pics of ERJs going to the U.S. and Europe (AA, CO, or BA) at GRU, anyone knows the reason for that?

The plane it's still a Brazilian export. SJC does not keep with International Customs (only International Airports with Cargo Terminal) so it's necessary to fly to GRU (or GIG) to obtain clearance (Export Register "RE"). After that the plane can fly to final destination. I really think it's what happen.

well I got to see it today for the first time. it blocked in about 7:45am et at gate 1 as they said. Since I'm a ramper, i went right for the belly and its small but not that small. Its pretty long but the ceiling is small. The cockpit is roomy and the cabin very comfortable. Lavs are bigger then I thought but I think all lavs are small. Next stop for it will be Boston and was told it will be off the block at 7pm et tonight. I hope some of you got a chance to see it at JFK. You'll be seeing much more of it in B6 livery.

I went on the E190 today and had some time to walk around the interior and the exterior. There really is no degradation of space or service from the A320 in this plane, some may even say its better with no middle seat. My one complaint about the interior was the lack of overhead storage space for bags. I was told however that B6's configuration would fix this problem. Cockpit was great, they even put a touch-pad on the center console for easy navigation. Baggage compartment was small, don't know if they will have to restrict the bags people bring on these things when they start flying.

There are two maturity flights coming up on the next two Saturdays. I believe they will involve this same aircraft. Destinations on the flights include two other cities B6 serves in the northeast region. I hope to be on one of them.

There going to have to restrict baggage. I have no idea on how they would do that considering the size of bags people bring. I've see it all to this point. Everything is being worked out though. It going to depend on what routes there put on and how there used as for a connection. You can bet that they will be used as a shuttle between IAD, JFK and BOS. For right now though, things are hush, hush. Look for a new city though real soon. Not saying what it is though but it shouldn't be a surprise to any of you.

Consider the flights wont be transcon... think of SYR, BUF, ROC flights.. baggage is at a minimum. There also may be alot more business travelers... most likely very little to no luggage.

Only time I think there may be trouble is christmas and holiday seasons when people pack heavy.
The cargo bin... although not very tall looked VERY long.
Overall it looked great.
I am not sure if you got the open the cargo door but it seemed overly complicated to both open and close since you have to manual open the vent unlike the airbus which opens along with the door lock.

Closing the door requires hooking it and pulling it down.. holding it while you put away the hook then shutting it... eh

hopefully it'll make its way to LGB so that us west coasters will be able to have a look at it.

it does look like a nice plane. does anyone know if this plane is "front heavy"? from the looks of pictures of it, it seems like the wheels are closer together (the main gears and nose gear) towards the front rather than a bit more spaced out between the length of the fusalage.

I think they also changed their option to the LR version for a few hundred miles more range.

As far as front heavy... maybe someone with access to the weight and balance charts could tell you. The position of the landing gear really would not tell you much about that. Although I did notice the fwd cargo bin looked BIGGER than the rear...

They changed all orders and options from the LR version (2200nm) to the AR version (2300nm). Not that big a difference really. The E195AR has a 300nm range improvement (1800nm to 2100nm).

The E190 stopped by BOS today for a few hours at the B6 gates. Most likely to be seeing those a lot in BOS once entering service for B6.

There thinking about getting rid of the pole to close the cargo door. The reason being that the poles will some how or another get lost. As for it going to the upstate cities, we have loads of over 120 bags easy on our A320's. The business passanger will be on but with people that will have the HUGE suitecase. Its going to be problem if they dont restrict. I've also heard that there going to use the E190 on routes down to FL. My feeling is that they will be rotating both planes on the season routes. The skin of the E190 we were told is more delicate then the A320's and our belt load rails will be taken down 3 inches do them being so close to the cargo door. I'm sure there will be more to come as we get close to the first flight.

There will still be large heavy bags on those routes also. PAX will be limited to one check in bag with a max weight of 50lbs. Not set in stone yet but I'm praying. Reguardless, these's planes will be full especially on a route like JAX where there is limited nonstop service. Thats even if we go there. I think we have enough flights.

which is my theres a need for bag restictions on the E190 and there will be. People only care about how many bags they can bring. Example is when college ends and everyone from schools from ustate bring everything with them. They don't know how big the belly is. Bags get left behind all the time no matter what size the aircraft. believe me, this will be a problem. It already is on some of our flights.

As for other routes, that's a different Q.

I wouldn't look for MIA anytime soon, there is way too much capacity on American, especially from New York. B6 has a lot invested in FLL already and adding another 10 flights a day to a city so close by would cannibalize that business. My money is on east of the Mississippi and north of the GA state line.

As far as baggage on the E190 goes I am going on a simulated flight this weekend to see just how much we can cram on that plane. Keep in mind the configuration for carry on will be different for B6 meaning more space. Checked-in luggage will still be a challenge, don't know what they will do there.

Yea, it has alot if business but alot of the other people on the flights are continuing to Florida, so that is more bags, so it evens out.

Well they have said that they are interested in MIA a couple of times, and since FLL is clogged up they want to be able to add more flights, and they have a big customer bas in MIA that drive to FLL so they would survive there. I think MIA will come sooner or later. They have hinted that they might start January 2006.

Service to MIA is actually contingent on conditions at FLL. Jetblue certainly prefers to expand service and gates at FLL where operations are more robust than to MIA where completely new arrangements are required. If conditions at FLL (you know what they are if you've been reading the threads the past few days) prevent expansion, MIA moves up the list.

hmmm...MIA, CLE, PIT, RIC, RDU...could be any one...but I remember hearing that B6 would add a 10+ flight city this year, so this could be the MIA announcment.

From what I am hearing, LAX is towards the top of the list for the 10+ flight city. Also the E190s will most likely be used on the JFK-BOS run to start followed by replacing some A320s on the upstate NY run like JFK-SYR, JFK-BUF, etc. Also from what I have heard, our first E190 won't be painted until 1-2 day before delivery.
LGB....where you can watch the grass grow because the traffic is so slow.

To all:

One of these was at BUF today. I believe in Icelandair colors.

Neat little ship.
