What did you expect them to say? We tried to feed everyone a half baked A330, got our rear ends handed to us by AC and NW, but we now have a new plane that at least has a prayer of getting orders?

It means that the A350 is selling well, and it even hasn't been launched officially yet....

I guess the HP/US one cold go down, as well as maybe a leasing company.

I didn't even expect a person like you to say something quite so wreckless.

It means that the 350 is selling, but at what cost?

Development costs are probably being pushed up from initial estimates. The 787 is selling well enough to put a lot of price pressure on the 350. The potential for 330/340 customers to want some very special deals on converting their fleets over time might also put on cost pressures.

I'm glad to see the QR 350 order and look forward to seeing the split of firm orders and options. I'm looking forward to see what the rest of the week will bring.

Congrats to both A & B.

It's definitely healthy for Airbus and Boeing to remain strong competitors in as many segments as possible. The A330 has been a great plane, and the A350 will likely build on that. Other than perhaps the 772ER for Boeing (and of course the A330/340 for Airbus), there appears to be room for everyone.

"i have a bad feeling el al will order A350."

Not if many billions of $ in U.S. aid over the years have anything to say about it. You can bet they'll be strong pressure from Tel Aviv on the airline to buy 787, even if it's free to do otherwise. Bad time to be pissing off the Bush Administration, after all its posturing in support of Israel. I doubt Sharon would want to risk any reduction in U.S. aid right now, given the lingering Palestinian issue and general uncertainties in the Middle East. That wouldn't be very "Kosher" - pun intended.

The A350 has been offered for sale since last year.

First of all it would be a great success for LY to order the 350. Also European countries are paying, AvObserver. And for what do you pay Israel? Just to buy planes?

Emirates is about to order 50 A350s.

I think history may show that AC and NW did Airbus an enormous favour in declining the misconceived product offered to them.

Hmmm, you must have missed the memo about LY being able to order whatever planes they want now.

Oh and you missed this thread! El Al To End Long Time Bias Toward Boeing (by 777ER Mar 30 2005 in Civil Aviation)

Because it is in german I can't read it, but I'll take you for your word that somewhere in there it mentions EK are now going to order the A350... I am a little confused because last week it seemed all deals with EK stalled and no order for the A350 would be made (yet). Maybe QR have forced EK to play their hand?

Just announced on the French TF1 news

This is TF1 news ... You're not talking about real information but about a populist TV show ...

But, we all know they will have more A350 orders this week ... That's not what I call news (may be known news ...), the only questions are who and how many A/Cs

From the Google translator, here is the part about EK:

Quote:
Duesseldorf/Paris - the airline of emirate airlines prepares the order of 50 A350, reports the "trade paper" with reference to industry circles. The billion-order of the Arab state line is presumably only on the Dubai air Show in November admits to be given.

They say they have sources in the aviation industry... I think it is a quite weak source. We often see F/A's, pilots, staffs saying something about their company ending up being completely false.
I think we just have to wait until their official announcement. Until then, everything is possible. Look at QR, a lot of people thought they were going for the B787, we even had some "I can't tell my source but I can guarantee you they go for the B787"  Yeah sure

I love the B vs A threads....... All you have to do is look at the country of origin of the threads before you actually read what they have to say, and you see who they are fighting for.... As predictable as Essendon finishing in the bottom 8 this year in the Australian football.......

For info, the Spiegel article mentions the fact that the order is likely to be announced only at the Dubai air show (not now).

Well you'll have to wait an see, yet to be fair the A350 seems to be bigger so it all depends on what the likes of LY want.

Yes the A350 is doing better than most speculation on here. There is also talk of a joint order by Star Alliance by the way (this would give those airlines involved a better list price if they purchase a larger amount of aircraft combined).

Good job airbus  bigthumbsup
