``The Boeing planes will fly international routes including New York to New Delhi,'' Jet Airways Chairman Naresh Goyal said at a press conference. The order still needs Indian government approval, he said.

Why does Jet need government approval to purchase aircrafts?

Funny , you should have also listed the A332 order in your title . I am curious why you left it out.

Wow! The B777LR is going higher, it's really winning lots of orders (difficult to say how many exactly, right?).
I wonder what will Airbus answer to that: giving up or coming back (A A340-500 Very High Gross Weight maybe ).

Good for Airbus too!
By the way, why does your thread title not include both of them -like Paris: 9W for 10x777LR + 10x332, Gecas 20x737- ? I think these 2 orders are equally important. Sounds like a bias to me .
KL911 did the same with Jet Airways Orders 10 A330 Option For 10 More (by KL911 Jun 14 2005 in Civil Aviation) but as I understood it, he was in Airbus pressroom, so maybe could not know for the Boeings.

Edited: 9V-SVC man! You beat me on this title thing... a few seconds  Smile

Cheers!

The reason I left it out is because it was already in another order thread. Sorry for the confusion.

So, 9W with 10 777LR means that they will go nonstop to north america skipping Europe and DUBAI.... I think Emirates should look at their strategy again and lower their prospects of posible originating traffic from India for its super hub. Would that mean less A380?.
If QF finally orders the LRs to better compete with nonstop flights from Australia to UK or Europe (at least one way), then EK should be needing less A380 than planned.
With 10 LRs, 9W will be able to offer daily nonstops from both DEL and BOM to NYC, ORD and even YYZ.
I assume their A330s will be used for nonstops to Europe and Southeast Asia/Asia.

A330's might be used (hopefully) for other cities MAA, BLR etc to wherever.

Is it 10 772LR or 6 772LR and 4 773ER ? Sorry for the confusion i read two seperate figures in two seperate threads.

9W

777-300ER/200LR=10+10 DEL-NYC.
737-800's=10
787=? "just the beginning," adding it was "looking very seriously" at Boeing's newest plane, the 787.

A330-200/300=10+10

Does that mean they still could order the 787 or the (10) A330-200/300 take its place?

It is safe to assume the day at Paris belonged today to INDIA----i am too proud and happy at the moment, i hope that nothing wrong happens.

Lets hope for the best ---BTW the KingFisher orders are for a mix of A330s and YES YES the "rumour" says the A380.
Altough i wont be surprised if they go for the A350 because they cant fly internatioally OFFICIALLY till 2010----hence in that case they might as well wait for the best at that given time

Does anyone remember / have a link to a statement made 6-8 months back in a news report (Indian newspaper online edition) in which Dinesh Keskar (Boeing) was quoted as saying he was confident that Jet Airways would never go for Airbus ? I don't remember the exact words but they were similar semantically to "no way Jet will go for Airbus" . At the time, I remember it struck me as a somewhat over-confident cocky statement. I would like to see again what exactly he had said. Hope someone else remembers this , and can provide a link. Thanks.

Where will they fly A380 to? Smells like another Tower Air to me. How about learning how to fly passengers in smaller aircrafts first and getting the system down right before graduating to bigger airliners. Just because a company knows how to sell alcohol (UB Group), does not mean they know aviation. But buying A380 is a reflection of their CEO's personality - a wannbe Sir Richard B. Anyway good luck to them. Jet Airways is doing it right - even their choice of frames (B777LR and A330) and perhaps in the future B787 makes sense!

Hehe!  footinmouth

He should have known the arrangement of A345 and A330 leases for Jet was part of a wooing strategy by Airbus. But even more important was the fact that Boeing doesn't have a competitive offering available in the near future for the 250 pax market, and that the only game was A332s.

I agree totally. It looks like both Airbus and Jet were winners. Jet got new airplanes right when they needed them (thanks to Airbus' help). Its like a race in India now, and Jet just couldn't wait or take 10 year old aircraft. While Jet did return the favor by purchasing 10 A330s, the 777 order makes me wonder how committed to Airbus Jet will be in the future.

Goyal is expressing strong interest in the 787. Looking at the 787 specs, particularly the 789 specs, you would think that the 789 will perform the same missions that A332 does at a lower cost.

Does anyone know if Boeing has made a press release about this order? I see one for the ILFC order but nothing about this one, even though there are pictures of the press conference with 9W's CEO.
