Boeing Pushing To Win EK's B772LR Order

Tue Jun 14, 2005 8:39 pm

I have to say that Boeing has added a very nice touch recently in it's campaign to win EK's order for their B772LR. I have already stated in a previous thread that for the first time ever, Dubai Radio Network is running advertisment on air for the Boeing B772LR live and during prime time links.

The radio adds are very nice and they state they compare the B772LR to a door to door convenient trip for anyone travelling within Dubai. Now they can do it within the world.... WAOW!!! I have to salute Boeing for this add!!!

I think this will add to the likings of Emirates. First time ever that I hear a radio add for any kind of aircraft from the manufacturer themselves on Dubai Radio ... waow.... it is regular adds too and everyone had a different theme!!! Nice!!!

What do you think?

Quoting EK156 (Thread starter):
What do you think?

Depending on their believes (A vs B / advertising is good vs not good), some will say PR crap, some will say it's a smart move from Boeing.

IMO, there is no other option for competing companies in today's world. You have to advertise your product, because advertisings -including your competitor's ads- are everywhere. Even if you have a better product, you need to merchandise it because with a nice ad, the competitor can outsell you.

Unfortunately, I think we are polluted by the ads... and it's not gonna calm down.  Sad.

Cheers!

Good for them. And it builds brand equity with the flying public. Airbus has had an eye-catching billboard for the A380 on the highway from Beijing Airport into town for many years. These radio and billboard ads are not only for flying public, but also for the people who buy airplanes.

I think EK will order the 777-200LR, mostly because EK already flies a substantial 777-200/300 fleet and just recently started taking deliveries for the 777-300ER, which has a lot of commonality with the 772LR.

The 772LR will likely be the plane EK uses for the DXB to US West Coast services.
