I am not sure that there are any (officiel) seat maps. However the Premier Business layout should be similar to Virgin's "Heathrow-version" 744s. A seat map can be found here: http://www.v-flyer.com/seatmaps.asp?click=24 . Given this is correct, the A zone (nose) will seat 14, B zone (between door 1 and 2) will seat 20 and the forward part of the upper deck will seat 10. The rear part of the upper deck should be configured with 23 Premium Economy and zone C, D and E on the main deck will seat 324 Economy passenger (just like the present version). I hope this helps.

Thats correct. Rows 23-27 on upper deck are premium economy in a 2-3 layout

DO a search on Air NZ from Auckland to LHR in Jan 06
make a reservation and select flights and you can select seats before paying - have a look and you can see the seat map for the new classes etc...

Because the VS seats are like standard business class seats, while the premium economy seats on Air NZ will be the same as economy, only more leg room and I think only slightly wider.

It is a completely different seat.

Our premium economy seat is actually quite different from standard economy. It has a foot rest, wider, different fabric and a lot more comfortable.

Will this be the first instance of an uneven (3-2) configuration upstairs on the 747? Don't think I've heard of one before.

I saw the new seats at TRENZ when I was working there this week I had a sit on the new seats and I was hooked, I can't wait for my next long haul flight with NZ.

Wow! Just added up the seats as according to the seat map.... Just over 400 seats! Isn't that way more than other 747s of other airlines? CX, for example, only has 380 seats on its 747 with the largest economy configuration.

So I guess the reconfig of NZ 744 is not just for the business passengers to have a more comfortable seat, it's to pack in more passengers as well!

Jesseycy

The new Configuration is
46 Business Premier
23 Super Economy
324 Pacific Economy

Total 393, current total is 392. Exactly the same number of Economy seats!

Several airlines seat less than 350 on some 3 class 744 configurations, QF seat 343 in their Pacific Configuration and 379 in the Kangaroo Config.

what do the colours mean? does anyone have a key?

if yellow are galleys,
then light blue are economy lavs,
and grey are premium cabin lavs;
then what are the green areas, are they closets?
Purple? Brown?

what is the significance about pink super economy seats? Navy and mauve business premier seats? orange economy seats?

BTW, I wish AC and other Star Alliance airlines introduce premium business blass seating similar to NZ's Business Premier Class.

TG992 - you tease - not even gonna show them the 772 config....lol Oh well - the 744 is the more interesting config of the two anyway...

All the diff colours are Inhouse colour coded seats for certain purposes that I'm not actually sure NZ wants directly publicised yet or not, so I'll keep shut until I hear otherwise.

Colours refer to various seatign suggestions (aid for check-in staff?)- couples seated together, children with parents, unaccompied minors, disabled seating etc etc.

Hmm. toilets downstairs.

36 seats sharing two in Zone A/B - change from the old layout where 28 shared 2 in Zone B... (Zone A had 12 sharing 2 in old First).

Are there any indication how this will be crewed?

Will Zone A have seperate crew to Zone b, and they will operate out of those two respective galleys?

I assume that Biz & Premium Econ will share crew upstairs?

Does this mean Biz & premium econ share same beverage lists ? (wines, etc).

Very interesting how the cockpit is almost completely self-contained! Having the lav in the cockpit reminds me of on some of the older 747-200 aircraft!

I wonder if for security purposes it would be better to not have the cockpit door open at all during the flight, and if so, if it would be beneficial to even place a small cold galley (or at least position a few carrier boxes) in there as well. Perhaps a small coffee maker and have the pilots pick out their choice of drinks from the liquor cart before the flight to remain in the cockpit.

Great layout, though!
