A350 An Option For LAN?

Fri Jun 17, 2005 9:18 am

I was just wondering now that everybody is talking about Airbus's A350. Can the A350 be an attractive aircraft for LAN of Chile? It seems that the A350 is a nice replacement aircraft for airlines currently operating the A343. Can the A350 be suitable as a future replacement aircraft for LAN's A343 fleet? What about the rumours of LAN being interested in the 777? Was this ever true or has it died out? I haven't heard much from LAN in quite a long time? Is LAN working on something behind the scenes?

Just wondering, that's all....

A hint might be on what LAN Cargo decides to be its large freighter.

LAN Cargo is currently in the midst reviewing for large cargo type. If they choose the B777F then certainly other models in the series become more attractive from a commonality point of view for the passenger division. However if LAN Cargo goes for used MD-11F or even some converted B744SF, then an Airbus product would likely have the inside edge due to the commonality with the A319/A320/A343 fleet LAN operates.

LA operates passenger 343s and 763s... It would seem that commonality is not as important to them as it is to some.
