Yes, it was about the Aloha 737-200 that had its fuselage ripped open in mid flight. Despite the relatively unknown cast, the film was compulsive viewing (I still have the video!) and I think it is probably the most accurate movie about a plane disaster.

Happy viewing!  camera

Sounds good!

Did anyone see that program on Channel 5 or 4 about the Air France A300 hi-jacking the other day?

Did anyone also watch the program on BBC about the BA BAC-111?

Rob!

I saw an episode of Airport on BBC1 last night, about 8pm I think. Is that a new series or yet another re-run?

I've only ever heard about this INCIDENT (happy now Kirkie) in passing, so I wasn't gonna miss this program. Kudos to the crew...I have a lot of respect for all of them.

I loved the conversation between hte pilots on the ashtray and the cup holder  Smile

Pilot: Wheres the cupholder? Oh there. And the ashtray?
Copilot: Theres no ashtrays these days, cupholder only!
Pilot: Damn, what about my chewing gum?!
Copilot: Have to stick it under the chair.

And the one where the flight test engineer cant get his helmet on:

Pilot: What are they doing back there?
Copilot: Punching each other I think!
Flight Test Engineer 1: Hold still, I have to punch you again ... did that hurt?

The Channel 4 two hour documentary on the A380 was excellent, restores your faith in documentary TV.
Great footage of the R/R Trent blade off test, that sticks in the mind but it was good all round.
And up to date at the end, this was no puff piece, nor was it a hatchet job either.

Actually, CH4 are on a roll here, a two hour film (over two episodes) on the race to win the JSF contract, shown in 2003, was excellent with much unprecedented access and footage.
More recently was the two hour film on the development of the UK's V-Bombers, H-Bombs and abortive Blue Streak missile.

Agreed Sir, an excellent and insightful television documentary, everything from the exclusive footage on board during the maiden flight and during the assembly to the interviews with the top Airbus personnel and the likes of Sir Richard Branson and top man at Qantas (Geoff Dixon?).

I found the issue with the unpowered landing gear deployment fascinating I would love to see what the final solution to that will be.

Half way through I was thinking to myself why on Earth am I not recording this. I might write to channel 4 and request a copy if it's possible.

Fantastic television in my (somewhat biased) opinion.

I loved the A380 programme tonight, will be watching it again as I recorded it! It just made me realise how much work did go into the plane. Even those who dislike the A380 must admire how much work has gone into the plane. Watching it take off and seeing the happiness on Airbus' employees faces was fantastic.
Did anyone catch the narrator saying Branson plans to have Casinos on the A380's ? Made me laugh  liar

At first, my response was to chuckle, but then I thought "Well, he already supplies bars and manicurists positions on aircraft, with 49% extra space, he could definately squeeze a few 4 seat poker tables or roulette wheels in there." So now my position is wait and see.
