N.W.T. Pilot KILLED..

Sat Jun 18, 2005 1:23 am

For those of you who knew Northern Canadian Aviation....we have lost a legend in the Northern skies. Merlyn Carter was killed at his fly in fishing camp after suffering an attack from a Black bear. Merlyn was opening his camp when he was killed, he was found by his wife and son who flew in a few days later. Mrs. Carter apparently was attacked when she got off the aircraft, however her son managed to kill the bear after applying a 2 x4 across its forehead, stunning it, allowing enough time to grab the gun from the Cessna 180 and shoot it 4 times.
