Ever Flown On A 757?

Sat Apr 22, 2000 3:19 am

I am flying to chicago on a united 757, Ive never flown on a 757 before, Is it a pretty good airplane to fly on? Ive seen lots of them take off and land, they seem to get off the ground really fast, but I was just curious on how they are in the air. any info is appreciated. thanks.

2 weeks ago I was on a Delta 757 from LAX-Orlando. I love the 757. It is a quick, powerful aircraft that is fairly comfortable. It is a very safe aircraft too.

I've also been on:
DL 757 (LAX-TPA)
UA 757 (LAX-ORD)
AA 757 (LAX-MIA), (SNA-DFW), (LAX-EWR), (DFW-CUN), (LAX-ORD), etc, etc, etc...

It is in my opinion the best narrow-body aircraft. Hopefully the middle seat will be empty on your trip! It makes it much nicer (unless you want to sit next to somebody!)

It is a very good aircraft to fly on. I had very little turbulence, watch your head on those tv screens though!

I've flown on plenty of 757s, and they are my favorite aircraft. They fly smoothly and have great takeoff performance. I've flown most recently DL ATL-TPA, but I've also done AA ORD-JAC (Jackson Hole, Wyoming)   and AA ORD-LAS. I believe I flew US PIT-SFO in a 757, but I can not be sure, because I hadn't acquired my love for aviation yet.

I love flying on the 757. You can really feel the power of those aeroplanes, especially on take-off, but then again, what aircraft can't you feel the powere on take-off on. Anyways, they are remarkably comfortable, but you usually have to walk a bit to go to the bathroom. All-in-all, a very good, safe, reliable, comfortable aeroplane, have a nice trip.

I've flown on 757-200 with MWA, AA and TWA. I've had they are very comfy, fast and the best thing since the 727-200. I recomend them for short hops and cross country travel such as EWR-SFO

I've flown on a 757 twice. Once into ORD on AA flight 1524 from SNA. Another into SNA from DFW. They are a perfectly safe and good aircraft.

I think of it as being a long version of the 737. I flew on a Northwest 757 from Detroit to MCO in Sept 1993 and it was a very smooth flight.

I've flown both First and Coach class on a 757 and must say it is one of my least favorite airplanes- the seating is cramped in my opinion, and the video screens hanging down from the ceiling in the middle of the aisle makes it very hard to walk up and down the aisle.

True, it is a bit cramped. But the power is just tremendous. I know you'll just love it. Put your head on the seat in front of you before takeoff, and then you'll really feel the power. Your head will be shooting back like a rocket.
It's like flying a loooonnnngggg 737, but with a WHOLE lot more power.

Have fun and hope you enjoy the flight!

IMO, the 757 (as with the 737 series) feels cramped, dark, and claustrophobic in comparison to the A320 family. For some reason the ceiling platform seems lower, thereby diminishing the sense of spaciousness.

The power is great, but all in all, the 757 looks and feels like a real cattle car.

Hi

How cramped it is depends on which airline you are flying with, and which class you are travelling with. The power, as has already been mentioned is fantastic, as is the reverse thrust and spoilers after landing. If you are landing on a short runway. be prepared to be shoved right back into your seat! One of my favourite aircraft, I'm sure you will love it

It's fantastic, the look and size of a widebody with the performance of a narrowbody - It's a real hot-rod!

At last count I've flown on the 757 38 times on flights from 25 min to 8 hours long, as a passenger and in the rupseat!

Enjoy your flight

United's B757-200's are awesome. The flight will be a smooth and quiet flight.

I took a 757-200 on PIT-SFO, with USAir. A great flight. The power on take off is really greater than all the other aircrafts I flew on. A very nice flight.
It is also a different aircraft than the 737, although the cabin size is comparable.
It is definetely one of the best aircrafts ever built

Been on 'em too many times to count! The 757 is one of my favorite planes--the number of FC seats makes it great for non-reving. I've only been in Economy once from PDX-DEN, but it was EconomyPlus, so the additional legroom may have skewed my opinion on Economy in the 757.

As AC_A340 said, definitly watch out for those screens in the aisles!

Have a good flight!

My Opinion...

I don't like flying on the 757... I have always said it feels like nothing but a really long 737! Although, they are a very neat plane to look at from the outside.

I would have to say on a cross country trip, I would rather be on an Airbus A320/319.

757

I know people have complained about 757s being cramped. But any plane full, a 757.737,A320 is not too fun. But the power on 757s is amazing. Boeing's own data says that a 757 can operate with a bigger load out of airports that a 737-400 could not. I remember once being in a fully loaded 757 from ORD landing at Sky Harbor and doing a 5,000 foot landing roll out... they have lots of power. Though I do have to agree that my favorite narrow body for a long haul flight would be an A320, AWA's new ones are especially nice, too bad it was only on the TUS-PHX flight. But I also like the MD-80 for long flights too.

The 757 is the best narrow-body plane out there. The takeoff is incredible. You will see what I mean. I've been on 757's of DL, NW, US, and UA........my favorite is in fact UA. You should have a wonderful flight on the 757......she's a great plane!

A little cramped if it is a full flight, but you'll like it. A real nice ride. Be sure to get a window seat!

I flew on a 757 2 years ago, down to the caribbean. Enjoyed every minute of it. The highlight was a visit to the flight deck. It was a beautiful clear night and the captain pointed out the islands that were ahead of us. Will never forget it. Enjoy your trip!

i would say that i have been on a 757, as i was supposed to fly ORD-SEA on a United 757, but my flight out of TRI was delayed 5 hours and i missed my connection....and therefore i missed the 757......they put me on an American MD-80 instead....and even then my flight out of ORD was delayed....what a bummer....
but hopefully i will fly on a 757 this summer....either to BOS or DFW....or both!!
