What Was Speedbird 107 Doing In Ankara?

Mon Jun 20, 2005 7:55 pm

Friday evening i was having a bbq at my place, with some friends over, and on the approach frequency i heard speedbird 107, at 18,000. I was a little puzzled and i rechecked my scanner, and it was the approach freq for Esenboga ( ankara international airport) However 107 sounds like a asia/europe flight and BAW doesnt fly to Ankara, only to Istanbul.
Does anyone know what this was about? there was no irregular chatter on the freq, and no emegency declared when i was tuned in at the time?

Thanks
The only time there is too much fuel onboard, is when you're on fire!

BA 107 is a LHR-DXB flight which leaves LHR around 12.30, not sure why it would have been on approach to Ankara. Could have been an emergency that you missed.

It was a LHR-DXB flight which was diverted to Ankara due to a medical emergency. Can't remember the details now though.
