Air Paradise Order

Tue Jun 21, 2005 4:39 pm

I remember reading a little while back that Bali-based Air Paradise were looking to increase their fleet with additional aircraft.

Does anyone know what they are looking at and any thoughts on what they will try and lease/buy?

Any info appreciated.

Cheers

The last two years 737-8K2 PH-HZW has been leased during the southern hemisphere summer. After that it is returned to Transavia.

has the Australian-Bali market fully recovrered of the 2002 events ?? Considering B738s are leased for the summmer season, I would say that yes bali has recovered after the bombings

I think they would have to lease anything if they were to increase... I could see them moving to A330's if they got a lease, or 763's... Depends on the lease deal they get.

The B737-800 is back with Transavia (it was just a winter leasing).

Now Air Paradies Intl will get a former China Airlines A300-600R.

Thanks for the info guys... thought they may have been looking at a replacement for the A330/A310 (A332/A333) would have seemed like a logical "new" replacement.

Flew them SYD-DPS-SYD in April and must say the seats on board are absolute crap! Oh and on top of a 5-hour delay SYD-DPS.

Would be good to see a change.

it certainly has. this year tourist numbers from Australia to Bali was back to pre- S11 and bali bombing levels. almost 500,000 pax per year. I will try find the media release issued a few months ago.

As has been stated elsewhere, yields are crap and none of the airlines are making a dollar on the sector.
API is owned by a wealthy Bali business that owns bars, clubs and hotels... as far is he is concerned, happy to bring the tourists in at cost price, and make his money from their stay there.

although some travel agents were calling for a ban to bali, it was had no major negative impact. provide a great holiday in the sun to an aussie tourists, and they'll travel no matter what!

If I remember correctly Air Paradise's leases will begin to run out from January onwards. Apparently they're not happy with the A310 and A300s on their fleet with frequent breakdowns sapping their cash away and I have been informed by one of their crew that they are looking for 763s but has so far found no suitable one.

No, the Corby issue hasn't changed the tourism flow much... in fact it increased the loads for Garuda  Smile

They want the A330 but currently I don't think they have the money for it. The airline's cashflow is quite strapped due to the low operating margins. However I doubt they'll go for A300-600R as they need to range to reopen Japan and Korea again. They were already strecthing the A310 on that one and the A300-600 would only be a short term measure for more capacity without the range. Interestingly, The ex-China Airlines A300-600 they'll be getting will probably an ex Garuda one...

Yes! It's c/n 677 - this is the former Garuda PK-GAT.
