I don't think VS aircraft have laptop power points in economy. When I was on a VS 747, I didn't see any. However I was on a LGW based 744. The LHR aircraft might be different though.

FBOweb shows SAS903 north of Halifax at FL400. The rest of your route is STEAM.N224E.TAFFY..ALB.V213.SAX..KEWR so you'll go over Albany, Boston might be visible off to the left in about an hour. EWR is using the 22s today so if you can get to the left side for landing do it! Enjoy the rest of the flight. Technology is amazing.

Haha... right. Today's forum brought to you by Boeing's broad-band IFE system known as Connexion

Connexion can be installed in any aircraft, Airbus or Boeing, and is also installed in LH A340 and 744.

That sounds really cool. I think the reason it's slow in the middle of the ocean is because ALL communications are slow in the middle of the ocean. Yhere's not too much satellite coverage there, because... nobody needs it there, usually. Also, they're far far away from any land base com devices.

heres an update,
i have an hour left..im still disappointed in this business class product..i took 20mg of valium to knock me out, so thats better than being drunk, and im too high to eat. im kind of sobered up now, and im realizing how ugly the flight attendants are. no offence to the swedes, but they didnt give us the cream of the crop for this route. i must say, that im a real boeing lover, as my name says, but i really like this a330. its a fabulous plane, and signifigantly quieter than the air france 777-300er i took to europe this trip.
on the screen, they put a little note saying, early next year they are installing business class sleepers, and it is really needed.
the touch screen ptv is cool, and so are the cameras, but they new VOD badly.

the wifi is working great now, and the coolest thing, is that i a tracking my own flight on flight tracker!

overall, this is my abbreviated trip report,,im too lazyt o post it on the trip report section, so i hope no one gets mad. the wifi is a great feature, the a/c isgreat, the windowed bathrooms are a nice touch, but SAS really needs to upgrade their business class fasttt.. i was wondering why their website didnt show any pictures of their seats, or any descriptions,,,,well now i know

i wonder if this is the first post made in the sky, i hope you guys enjoyed it!

This would be cool if you were still somewhere over the Atlantic, as I could tell you what other transatlantic traffic is around you, but for the time being, it looks like you're setting up for an approach to the 22s.

I'll try to find the Lufthansa flight here next.

Yeah, I tried it the wireless on SAS a few times last week - works great. I was even able to run the Skype application (free telephony over the internet) and spoke with my wife and son in AZ for about 45 mins. My fellow pax were obviously perplexed, wondering why I was speaking into my laptop.

Try it out - skype.com

The usual approach to SFO from Europe is from the north over San Francisco with a left U-turn over about Palo Alto and then approach and landing on 28L or 28R. Sometimes the approach is from the east overflying Milpitas and then heading up the SF Bay to the 28s. When winds are unusual, other approaches and landings occur.

I'm sure there's plenty of Satelite coverage in the N.Atlantic however, most transatlantic communication is done through fiber under the Ocean, not satelites. There's so much over-capacity of fiber that it's much cheaper that way.

That's an understatement. Virtually all the data between Europe and North America is carried by terrestrial fiber. Satellites carry very little data between Europe and North America. Satellites are much slower than terrestrial fiber and much more expensive.

Zvezda,

Is your flight to SFO due at 18:40 local time today (June 21)? If so, I'll probably see you fly over right over on your approach because my office is directly north of 92 where the San Mateo bridge makes landfall.

Have a great flight!

It's tough sometimes, but I waste much more time every day lurking on these boards.  Smile

Fortunately, since there are many buildings on the company campus, I'm outside a lot when I have to go from meeting to meeting or to the cafeteria, etc., so I catch my fair share of air traffic. The worst is trying not to crash my car on 101 when driving past the airport every day!

This morning I saw Northwest Flight 28 (A332) come in from NRT after breakfast and just saw KLM flight 605 (772 ER) on approach from AMS while going to lunch.

To keep this post on-topic, recently my friend took a flight on LH from SFO to MUC and liked the Connexion access, except LH doesn't offer power ports in coach on the A346, which is a BIG drawback.

Cheers,
Jeff
