France Has New Low-Cost Airline

Agence France Presse reports that a new French low-cost carrier has begun operations from Reims.

According to the report, Air Turqoise has begun operating ATR-42s from Reims to Bordeaux, Marseille and Nice. One-way tickets reportedly range from €50-200.

The prices are hardly low-cost. Most likely a marketing gimmick rather than anything else. Flying from Reims seems rather risky as the city and surrounding area aren't that big though if the airline can make it work they will have found a good niche market.

Lowcost-airline with one ATR 42 is a rather potemkin-title...
I do wish them well - the first airline creation in France since three years - one aircraft - well- it illustrates the difficulty one will have in France to become entrepreneur in aviation.
Air France,TGV,low average income, the reluctancy of many french to travel at all - many reasons why France is the european exception....
Bon vol , Air Turquoise......

Quoting AeroVodochody (Reply 2):

Reims population-wise has approximately the same size as Geneva, and it is THE "champagne-capital" of France, in other words a very rich city. And btw. a very elegant and beautiful place. So that the term "risky" is a bit exaggerated, even if a failure of course always is possible.
