New US Airways Paint Scheme After The Merger

Wed Jun 22, 2005 6:01 am

These have been the pictures floating around CLT and upper dogs verified it for me. It's not bad looks very classy and it'll be a little cooler in the summers' now.

Looks like a mix from the Shamu, New United colors and Dreamliner scheme.

A little visual rebranding can't hurt and the c/s actually does look good. Wonder if it'll ever be implemented?

I don't like the flag...it looks shredded, like they just got back from battle (which could be appropriate I suppose)...

I wish theyd keep what they have .... and just lighten the blue a little. Why do all these airlines feel the need to rebrand?

Its an extremely attractive design that I think will meet the climactic requirement of ops from LAS and PHX.

True, but now it has been cropping up at pilot's lounges on models, and it was done by a professional designer.

How disappointing... The current US Airways livery is by far my favorite; shame they're planning on replacing it with that.

I think the new scheme looks good in one sense but I think it would be more appropriate on a European charter leisure airline not a major corporate airline. Reminds me a little of Monarch (but with different colours!)

It might sound stupid but just doesn't look very corporate or classy for a major international airline. They should be choosing something more classic.

I love the current livery and still think it looks very modern, but with all that history of the last few years of bankrupcty looming over it they need to close a chapter and start a fresh. My only concern is rebranding a whole airline will run into millions and hope they don't waste cash which could be going somewhere else.

I still think this livery would be a great blend of both airlines' colors and style, and IMHO it's even BETTER than anything that's been proposed so far:

Take a look at the large version here:

I'm not sure how I feel about this one yet. Perhaps lightening the current one or switching some colors would do the trick.

Yeah, I like that one too, although I think the one suggested in the first post of this topic looks better in the picture of the 787 than the 330 (not saying that because of the 330, i'm saying that because I don't think there's quite as much white in the 787 picture, which with that livery, I like better).

I've seen that "proposed livery" a million times. I don't care how many pilots tout it, the day an airplane's painted is the day I believe it.

U-G-L-Y.

Please US Airways, keep your current scheme. Are they going to spend millions of dollars rebranding. Yes, I know airplanes are painted as they go in for Cs and Ds, but what about gate signs, ticket counter walls, stationary, ticket jackets, lost baggage areas, advertisements (the ones in the airport, uniforms, wings and so on and so forth.

Keep it the way it is US Airways.

I'd just lighten the blue on the current livery.

Actually, I'd ditch the "US Airways" name entirely, but that's another issue.

Ranks right up there with the new Airtran scheme, butt ugly.

But I have my doubts that this is real, because I saw something nearly identical to that on cardatabase.net/modifiedairlinerphotos.

Agreed 150%. If any, THAT is the livery they should have. HP is the one that's gonna be running the new US, and this scheme preserves part of HP while implementing the US brand nicely.

I as proud of an American as anyone, but its just too red/white/and blue. I like the fact that HP used green and orange when everyone else was doing blue/grey. I hope they get more creative.

I think US Airways will keep their current livery for quite a while. As AA757first said, "Are they going to spend millions of dollars rebranding." US Airways cannot afford to repaint their airplanes. The new repaint ideas will remain on the drawing board for a long time. Besides, with America West under the US Airways name, US Airways should not feel obligated to include America West's colors. The new livery would be nice. I personally liked US Airway's old silver livery--US Air. I haven't kept up with US Airways recently so correct me if I'm wrong.  scratchchin

The scheme that EA CO AS shared has been circulating around PHX like the common cold. Everyone seems to be in agreement that's what the new livery should be. The branding remains the same, the livery changes. It's also less expensive for America West aircraft to transition into such livery.

I am a huge fan of the current US scheme - it's the classiest scheme in the American skies right now, up there with Continental and American (IMHO, of course). The only way the above proposed livery would win me over is if they darked that royal blue a little. They need to stay with their trademarked US Airways blue/navy blue. (And yes, it actually is trademarked... lol)

I dont mind the scheme, but the flag on the rudder needs to be redesigned. It should be MUCH larger, and moved down. Even oversized and not fully seen on the rudder, a la the current United Airlines symbol that is on the rudder of their A/C.

That really is a nice scheme^^. So is the America West/US Airways combination. I just hope they do change because i'm not a huge fan of their current one.

BTW-I think the use of Red/White/Blue like that looks really nice.
