Non-reving With YV Through PHX

Thu Jun 23, 2005 4:18 pm

Oh the 12th of next month, a friend and I are non-reving to SAN via PHX through either EUG, or PDX, dependant on load availability. My question is, is it typically hard on a tuesday to make a PHX-SAN/CLD flight? For instance, do they usually go out full, light...etc?

No not too bad... not so much on the Mesa flights away because those are the earlier ones. Mainline flight on the other hand fill up pretty well during the summer to San Diego. Anyway, just remind me as the time gets closer and I will check flight loads for you.

Tues, Wed and Thurs are probably your best bets. The only problem is, that all the PHX - SAN area flights are full this time of year. I would not put my worst enemy on these flights non - reving. Sorry. GO DUCKS!!

Sorry, not much help. The only flight EUG-LAS leaves EUG at 7:30 PM and arrives in LAS at 9:30. The only connecting flight LAS-SAN is a mainline redeye that arrives SAN at 1:07 AM, plus it's already booked pretty full.

What can I say, those 65 degree high temps are appealing!

The 915AM flight out of PHX is less than half full as of right now, hope that helps.

when non-reving, it's hard to make plans in advance like this, best bet is to wait until the week of, then you can find out the booking in a more accurate sense. People are still buying tickets for the flights now, that week they should be finished for the most part

yeah, You have a point, I have some good non reving memories. One interesting thing about non reving is its only predictable to a certain degree...and then it might change completely unexpected!

Yeah, keep an eye on the flights leaving before the one you plan on, if there are delays or a cancellation the passengers will generally be bumped onto yours. I found this out the hard way. Another neat trick paying passengers like to do is forego leaving on the early morning flight because they'd rather sleep in, then hop on the next plane as revenue standby. Dirty, but fact.

Excuse for the lack of knowledge, but whats 'non-reving'? Flying without a reservation?

Precisely, flying on a space available basis. Quite fun, but risky, in the U.S. you must be an airline employee to do it, or typically be associated with one through family...etc

Quoting RichardPrice (Reply 13):

Non-Revenue producing Passengers (yeh right). Even though you pay a discounted price you are considered Non-Reving. There are different levels, employees getting the top spot, then employee's benefiting family, then buddy-pass users, OAL employees, etc. Good idea not to check bag(s), if you don't go, they will, and then you are without you bag(s). Check-in with only carry-on bags. Flyboy, your smart in buying some back-ups.

yeah out of EUG into southern cal there are several options through all of the cities served, we've always got on board except for maybe twice...so hopefully all goes though all right.

You might want to look into getting some passes on UA to get down to SAN or CLD. Especially coming from EUG, it would be good to have a backup.

Do you live in EUG? Because those flights are always FULL! Try to get passes on SkyWest UAX operated flights for back up!

Usually vegas goes out with open seats from EUG, and it just went daily, the morning plane fills up a lot, and occasionally the afternoon flight...they are nasty looking right now on the 11th but the 12th isn't horrible...UX is more notorious for being full out of EUG to SFO...thats hell!

Try DL to SAN, or to LAX and catch UAX from there.
