AZ MD80's Slowly Going...

Thu Jun 23, 2005 7:08 pm

Hi,
I've been monitoring AZ's huge fleet of MD80's for some time now, and they are slowly going to other carriers. But from a fleet of 86 at the beginning of the year, they now have 79, which, at that rate their MD80's will be gone in about 7 years!(6 every 6 months, 12 in a year etc...)
But does anybody know where they will all go, and what will replace them? That will have to be a big 32X order! And from the state AZ are in, how will they afford it? I don't think selling MD80's will be enough money for buying 80 new jets, do you?

Either way it will be a slow process getting rid of all those MD80's.

If you look at who they've gone to, I don't think they'll wont too many more of AZ MD80's!!

don't think it will be 1 each month... they will pass-out a reasonable number, and there will surely follow more planes, since they need to shrink (part of the madly needed cost cutting plan)

but think in the end they will still have some 40 of them or so

Some of their MD80 jets are as recently delivered as '95, which isn't that old.
