That's a shame, I would like to see Sahara at T3!

When is the terminal systems all changing at LHR?

I thought Sahara were previously planning to fly LGW, how come they changed to LHR?

When will their first 777 arrive?

Rob!

Well they will have a hard time connecting any passengers from the USA who let's say fly American into T3 and want to fly on to Delhi or Hyderabad. However TI offers much better connections within the EU.

Sahara was able to "acquire for commercial considerations" slots granting them daily 1605Z arrivals (except 1455Z on Fridays) and 2115Z departures at Heathrow.

They have also received via allocation slots for daily 0610Z arrival and 1045Z departure, plus a daily 1640Z arrival and 1910Z departure (1855Z on Saturdays and 1915Z on Sundays) at Gatwick.

This should work for onward connections to/from North America. Has Air Sahara applied to fly out of Bombay to LHR? Any chance they might use Hyderabad or any other southern city to fly to LHR? I realize they do not have the aircrafts yet for these additional slots at Gatwick.

So AI, 9W and Sahara's flights all leave LHR between 9:15pm and 9:30pm. Does anyone have pax feedback on which timings they are liking better on the BOM-LHR route. Do people tend to prefer to depart LHR for BOM in the night and depart BOM for LHR at noon or the old way? I would imagine business pax want to leave BOM in the night and leave LHR in the night, but I could be wrong.

I am surprised Sahara didn't try to get slots from LGW for onward travel to the US. While LGW isn't ideal for London's Indian immigrant population on the west side, I would imagine Indian tourists could care less where they land. LGW would give Sahara a good transit place for a SFO-LGW-HYD flight.

With LHR it isn't a matter of choice anymore. You operate at whatever time you get slots. Right now the only availability is for evenings. Hence...

I understand, I just meant that now that people have timing options are pax showing any preference on flight timings.

Is LGW also included along with LHR in the UK India bilateral which has a capacity restriction or are the number of flights un-restricted. If LGW is un-restricted maybe Air Sahara will start BOM-LGW until they can get the bilateral rights to fly BOM-LHR.

The capacity restrictions are only on BOM/DEL to LHR routes.

This winter is set for 42 weekly frequencies on each side.

Air India will operate 16 of these (10x BOM, 6x DEL) and Jet will operate 14 of these.

Air India wants slots for the remaining allocations but was denied. Now they are waitlisted and will see what they can get. Sahara has the slots but is waiting for the grant of the rights to operate DEL-LHR. Jet has enough slots to operate 3x daily but wants to run only 2x for this winter and increase to 3x daily when the limits raise to 49 in S06 or 56 in W06.

Likely outcome is that for W05, AI runs 21 weekly total (16x BOM/DEL plus 3x CCU and 2x AMD), 9W runs 14 weekly and S2 runs 7 weekly. In Summer, 9W increases to 21 weekly and in winter AI increases marginally depending on slot availability.

That’s interesting Sean.

It seems that Jet want to operate a Delhi London flight with there extra 7 frequencies.
