Ben Gurion Airport On Verge Of Shutdown

Sat Jun 25, 2005 6:02 pm

Sanctions by the technicians' union may shut down Ben Gurion International Airport on Saturday as the second luggage-sorting machine has ceased to operate.
If the faulty machines were not fixed by Saturday afternoon, the Israel Airport Authority said, it would bring about a halt in departing and arriving flights.
About 20 flights are expected to land and take off during the Sabbath, but as of Saturday evening until Sunday, tens of thousands of passengers are slated to pass through the terminal.
