Most Powerful Airplane

Tue Jun 28, 2005 10:09 am

Hi!
I'm wondering what the most powerful airplane is, and I think it is the A380F.

With it's 4 engines at 77.000 lb (GE7277) of thrust, I will have a total thrust of 308.000 lb!

The An-225 has 6 engines of 50.000 lb right? So it's total thrust is 300.000 lb, a bit less than the A380F.

So, is the 380F the most powerful airplane ever built/going to be built?
(Probably soon to be surpassed by the A380-900 though, which should have something around 4*80.000 lb)

There's power, and there's thrust. A380 may have the most thrust, but I suspect the B-70 exceeded its power.

The most overpowered aircraft would have to be the 757. My bro is a pilot and he said that the plane is studidly overpowered by those engines.

I would also debate the 777 has enormously powerful engines. They are so big, I came really close to one the other week when at Heathrow. It is positively scary when you look at it. Awesome stuff!

You gotta mention the A300-605R as well. That thing just hopped off the runway at MIA on a hot summer day fully loaded with cargo and pax on our way to SJU last year.

While much maligned here, the A300-605R is really a very powerful plane!
