WHERE IS THE NOISE? If I hadn't watched the ERJ land, I would never have heard him. And he turned to taxi off the runway just to my left...with his reverse thrust to my right...and only 100 yards or so in front of me. The engines on those birds are ultra-quiet.

OK, that is going too far. I live 10 miles from ORD and the planes (mainly older 747s at this point) still are noisy at times. Does that make me a NIMBY? No, it makes me someone who supports noise and environment standards for cleaner, quieter engines so that both nearby residents and the airport can coexist in relative peace
