Alex

According to the LHR mailing list and the book flight routings 2004 they are operated to Teeside.

Hope this helps.

BMI ERJ145s operate from LHR to ABZ,EDI,GLA,MAN,MME,LBA and maybe one or two international destinations

Is their enough demand for a possible LHR-BHX route, I would love to see direct services to LON from BHX again?

The RJs are mostly used on weekends when the Airbus narrowbody fleet is used on charter flights from other airports. A way for bmi of gaining some money on charter flights whilst using aircraft more adapted to demand (lower on weekends on trunk business routes).

That route will never start. Both cities are too close and the train takes less than two hours and flying would actually take more time when you take into account the times needed between LHR and downtown London. Only chance of seeing this route is if Bmi wish to increase feeding into LHR but there again way easier to funnel people by train or have them drive to LHR rather than flying a sector which will never be profitable and will use up both crew, aircraft and slots in a rather useless way.

That should be "never restart"! BD operated 3 or 4 daily services to both EMA and BHX using Sh360s back in the 1980s - as they expanded their international portfolio from LHR, they scaled back their domestic operations with those 2 destinations and LPL being dropped with MME and LBA seeing some cutbacks I believe; the only new UK services in the past 5 or so years have been to MAN, ABZ and INV (the latter two started within the last 2 years).

The route wasn't bad for BD, but it carried mainly online connecting traffic (whereas the EMA-LHR route carried mainly non-rev staff travelling to and from head office!!!). The reason why both were dropped was that much more revenue could be obtained from operating an Airbus to [say] AMS than a SH360 or ATP to EMA or BHX, and with LHR slots being constrained eventually the Midland routes had to go.
