Ownership Of Airbus

Wed Jun 29, 2005 4:47 pm

I hope this is of some use.

According to last week's flight international, Airbus ownership is as follows:-

Through ownership of EADS:-

French Government 12%
Spanish Government 5%

Lagardere publishing 12%
Daimler-Chrysler 22.5%
Hamburg (city of?) 1.5%
Publicly Traded 24%
"Others" 3%

That totals the 80% owned by EADS

BAE SYSTEMS owns the other 20%

Interestingly the German government and UK government have no ownership.

I hope this serves as a reference in future discussions, and avoids any misunderstandings as to "Who owns Airbus".

and the French Government should sell their shares as well, same as the minority share the City of Hamburg holds.

The Lagardere Family is AFAIK not into pulishing but was/is a major shareholder of Dassault and has other industrial interests as well. The way France ticks, the State has always a controlling interest and if not directly involved applies gentle pressure through then old boys network since they all went to the same Elite schools. This may apply in other countries as well but to a far lesser extend in Germany.

it should be noted that Kuwait "owns" 1,62% of Airbus through their ownership of Daimler-Chrysler!

Perhaps would be good if a new party took the 20% BAE share.

It would bring in fresh ambitions & independents.

BAE is considering it.
