Crew Rest On The Aircraft?

Fri Jul 01, 2005 5:00 am

I was wondering if there are airlines that have their crew hang out on the aircraft between an aircraft's arrival and departure times, when it is not done within a short amount of time, and it is all within the rules that govern crew duty hours?

Say we have a flight from point A to B, which is only 1 hour long. Flight leaves A at 2200, arrives at 2300. Then the return does not leave B until 0400, arriving at point A at 0500. Total run is 7 hours, including ground stop at point B.

Can you please list the airlines/flight numbers? It would be interesting to know...

You are referring to a "stand-up" overnight. Most airlines I know of still get crew hotel rooms, even if it is just for a couple hours (taking for granted they don't overnight at their base)

Our contract states that if there is a scheduled sit time of 4 hours or more, the company must provide a hotel. Hope this helps..
