JAL DC 10-40

Mon Jul 04, 2005 9:01 am

JAL's DC-10 will retire from operation in March 2006. They may be planning last flight tour, which they did for MD-11 in 2004. In 2004, last flight tour was Narita-HKG and then HKG-NRT and those who participated this tour got special gift made from spare parts of MD-11.
I am looking forward to join DC10 last flight in March., how about you?

From what I heard, JAL is thinking of using them mostly for domestic routes at the end. HNL's last JAL DC-10 flight will be Oct. 31, 2005, FUK-HNL-FUK. This is already the last JAL/JAZ DC-10 route to Hawaii and is scheduled to be cut at the end of October.

There are rumors that one or two DC-10s will serve as operational back-ups into 2006, though it will formally be phased out in Fiscal Year 2005.

Could anybody confirms if JAL is the only operator of DC-10-series 40? As least this is the information I have.

I think they are since NW retired all of them.

Aeroflot flies four DC-10-40Fs, all former JL planes.
The rest sit in the US deserts.
