Very disappointing, just as new routes are beginning from GLA (over the last 2years). Does anyone know why? I thought passenger loads were good.

I've just posted on another thread - hope this helps.

Passenger figures for GLA-PRG and EDI-PRG as follows:

Nov 2004
EDI-3,873
GLA-10,675

Dec 2004
EDI-3,966
GLA-11,373

Jan 2005
EDI-2,823
GLA-9,569

Feb 2005
EDI-3,209
GLA-10,586

Mar 2005
EDI-4,016
GLA-12,173

Apr 2005
EDI-4,850
GLA-11,541

May 2005
EDI-7,831
GLA-10,659

November 2004 - May 2005 = 212 days

EDI averaging 144 pax per day (72 each way)

GLA averaging 361 pax per day (180 each way)

Granted for most of this time GLA had 2 daily flights (1 x OK and 1 x GSM) and EDI only had 1 x OK flight until GSM added their service recently - these figures don't really justify OK's decision to cancel their GLA operation.

GSM are rumoured to be going 2 x daily from GLA - if this rumour becomes true, thoretically and hopefully we should see similar or the same passenger numbers GLA-PRG.

The only loss for GLA is the connecting possibilities that OK offered - the loss to OK is much bigger, losing their Scottish Executive financial handout for starting the service from GLA.

If GSM do indeed go 2 x daily from GLA, how long do you think before they will replicate the move at EDI, and then what will OK do?

I guess that will depend on how many of OK's GLA pax were using the service to connect to other destinations? Those hubbing through PRG en-route to other destinations might simply switch to other carriers such as BA, KLM or SN? Globespan's PRG service would not be able to cater for them.

Nice to see someone supports monopolies. I'm sure over time we'll see an increase in GSM's fares as a result of CSA's withdrawal.
