Japanese Model (All Eco 747s) For India

Wed Jul 06, 2005 6:24 am

Given the rapdly growing air travel market in India, would an airline be successful in implementing the Japanese model of flying aging 747-200s/A343s/DC10s.. in all economy configurations between the major metroplotan cities ? Airlines would be able to fill the seats if the fares are attractive enough, I assume. What challenges exist in implementing this idea ?

Thanks for the responses.

The biggest challenge is infrastructure and bureaucracy , do you need more ?

Yes if the if the fares are attractive enough(lesser than train and bus fares) and oil prices remain stable, I guess it would be successful.

If amount of much traffic > number of airport slots, sure it can happen.
