Apparently six cows were sleeping on the runway...
Right main landing gear damaged but aircraft was able to taxi to ramp.

Well actually, this was a test by Boeing of their latest project using composite technology: ComposiCow. The cow was reported to have a few dents, but it'll be fine once they send it back to Wichita for repairs. The results of this test bode well for the 787, ComposiCow, and future Boeing projects.

I remember , surely more than 20 years now , a Lufthansa DC10 broke its landing gear at La Paz , after hitting a cow on landing.

Will planes get a cow-look then too?
Only this was an A330...

Isn't it more likely to be an A319 Dedicate as Port Harcourt is one of the oil cities the Dedicate program is supposed to serve?

Is there any news on the fate of the cow? Its not often that something like this occurs and I want to know details! Any photos?

Scheduled arrival is at 0435, so it was probably still dark.
Reports speak of dead cows.
It WAS an A330-200, F-GCZF. Tomorrow AF will send a 777-200 to pick up the pax.

And it was silly of me since Port Harcourt is not part of the Dedicate program.
By the way, it is F-GZCF c/n 481, not F-GCZF.

Man that's gonna be a horrible mess on AF's all-white color scheme. Knowing what BBQ cow does to a white t-shirt, that airplane is gonna look like hell...

It was probably CO's fault for leaving the cow on the runway  duck

To counter the super-efficient 7Cow7 (ComposiCow), Airbus is proposing a new, larger cow (A3Moo) that will allow a greater amount of milk to be produced in pastures that are restricted to a certain number of cows.

Look for the 7Cow7 to be used in smaller pastures, while the A3Moo will be used in space restricted barns.

Emirates is currently in talks with Airbus for up to 45 A3Moos.

I guess I am a little surprised at all the jokes. This seems like a pretty serious incident and it is fortunate that no one was injured. It should not be that hard to keep large animals off of the runway and yet this happened.

Does anyone have any info on a 7Cow7ADV? I hear it's supposed to bridge the pasture between the 7Cow7 and the A3Moo. But I'm told it might take some time if we do away with farm subsidies.

I guess it was a "moooving" experience for those bovines.  crazy
I hope no one has a 'cow' over this experience.  sigh
To me it is 'udderly' stupid to have hit cows  ouch
I wonder if the pilots said upon realizing the cows were there if they said 'Cowabunga"  eek
Now I guess AF finally has an excuse to finally clean this a/c  blush

But seriously folks, and how much damage was done? Was the a/c flyable quickly or was the a/c being held there for repairs?
Does AF have to pay for the injured/killed cows to the farmer, but then again, wasn't the farmer wrong for not properly manging his cows? I know in some places in Europe, you not only have to pay for the farm animal you killed but also for lost offsrping, value (like future expected milk production) - does this apply here?
