Did AZO make financial guarantees to DL/ ASA like LAN did for their forthcoming ATL service?
Direct KNOBS, maintain 2700' until established on the localizer, cleared ILS runway 26 left approach.

Great news.

Though I am still very surprised that they are now serving Appleton, Lansing, and Kalamazoo from Atlanta, and still no service to Green Bay and Madison. Only a matter of time, I guess.

I am surprised NW hasn't launched counter service from LAN and AZO yet Big grin .

Not against a fellow SkyTeam member. Now if AirTran started ATL service you'd see Pinnacle CRJs winging their way from AZO and LAN to ATL.

It now seems that DL at ATL is taking the same approach as AA is with DFW.

AA has recently been fortifying its mega-hub at DFW by connecting the dots with cities that in the past only has service from ORD....cities like TVC, GRB, RST, FWA, GRR, etc.

Now that DL pulled the plug on DFW and has been redeploying its regional network they are now connecting the dots at ATL with a lot of cities that used to only have service to CVG. Thus, fortifying their mega-hub in ATL.

This is definately great news for AZO, an airport that has been kind of left in the dust in the recent years. And lately with it's terminal expansion program.

Way to go Delta and AZO!

Wait a minute.... AZO isnt even served by ORD right now? No UAL, AA, or United Express flight? That's odd.

ASA is expecting more CRJ200s...I would expect a few more new cities to be announced for the next couple of years unless we start sending 50 seaters to SLC...They have to go somewhere. Quite frankly, I don't know how many more flights can ATL handle. I would like to see MSN-ATL at least twice a day though.

Routes out of AZO by airline. Only mainline service is Northwest to DTW on a DC9.

UAE: AZO-ORD
AAE: AZO-ORD
DLE: AZO-CVG, AZO-ATL
NWA/NWE: AZO-DTW, AZO-MSP

True indeed, all ex-DH, though I'm not sure whether ASA gets 8 or 12. Anyway, at the same time they will give 8 of their own CRJs to Comair, so ASA won't grow that much.

There's no doubt about that, more international destinations, and domestic destinations served from either SLC or CVG but not from ATL (BGR for example).

Quite frankly, I don't know how many more flights can ATL handle.

Once the new runway opens next year in May/June, that should allow for some 30-40 additional movements per hour, or 15-20 R/Ts, which would some up to as much as 360 more R/Ts, if I counted correctly. Though those numbers are obviously for good wheather ops. And even if DL doesn't add that many flights, at least delays will decrease.

Would not be surprised at that, perhaps even with a SCAD grant.

I am surprised too, and you can add CID (Cedar Rapids/Iowa City) to that list too. I know our airport management has had talks with Delta about starting this service. Would be nice to have 2 dailies to the "world's busiest airport"
