They have to keep the 747 line busy until the 747ADV.

Who is Guggenheim Aviation Partners ?
a pseudo Boeing/CIA funded company ?

Midnightmike, good scoop. Deliveries until 2008... When is the earliest the 747adv line could start?

Aither - you shouldn't ask such questions. By the way, please look squarely at the center of your computer screen...we have trouble monitoring you when you don't...

I gather they are possibly a leasing company specializing in freighters?? Thats kinda the feeling I got from the article.

Actually Aither, they are an U.S.-based aircraft/cargo leasing firm. They are the lessors of Martinair's MD11 and is a partner in the 747 SF conversion program.

Lightsaber, the switch to Adv production should happen around 2007-2008, as Boeing plans for a first-flight and EOS in 2009. It would appear that production of the 744 through this time isn't far from being secured...

EOS in 2009

What is EOS? I know EIS - is that what you meant. This industry has too damn many TLA's.  Smile

I think it means Entry into Operational Service/Entry into OperationS... aka flying for airlines/cargo.

I believe EIS is the correct term, but I've seen EOS used interchangeably..

Or I could just claim the "I" and "O" keys happen to be right next to eachother on the QWERTY keyboard  Wink

Word is that they are destined for Lufthansa Cargo and/or their China-Venture Jade Cargo.

Who are they leasing too? LH, JL, MP?

I believe this is the company that leases a/c to MP.

Congrates to Boeing and the GAP group. Big grin

I've heard first deliveries of the 747-ADV could be in 2008, after the 1st flight of the 787
long live the 747!

I just did the little Everett tour today. It makes me wonder why 2008? They don't appear to have much going on at the plant. Most of the assembly jigs were empty. Every varient I saw was a 747F as well... Maybe they're stretching things out to keep the line open?

Good to hear that next year, line 5 will start assembling the 787. That's the tour I'd like to see, not 40 year old technology on the 747 line.
