What A Deal on Champion for $332/pp

Sat Jul 09, 2005 4:32 am

Man am I getting a deal! I am getting RT airfare on Champion for $332/pp.

Now the lowest fares I could find online were Continental, with 1 stop in IAH and starting around $550/pp.

Why am I getting such a deal!! Is it just because champion is a charter or what?

I am in no way complaining! Not only am I getting the cheapest airfare around, I'm doing it on one of the best birds in the sky!

Hey,

I must say that is a good deal, but why do airfares in the US cost so much?

I could get a flight departing MAN (UK) to CUN for $210 PP. And you are closer than us to CUN.

Thanks
Mike

I think it is just the high loads that the US sends to Mexico on a daily basis. Cancun is a party town and a great place to vacation..I guess thats why so many americans go there?

Jesus..a Intl flight across the pond for $210/pp?? What, when and Where?

My departure flight is at 5:45 am, and the return flight leaves at 8pm. I couldnt of asked for better flight times for a vacation =]

I am only paying for 4 nights, so I kinda get all of Saturday for free  Smile

It is also considered safe - a long way from the bombings in London and Madrid.

However, specifically, yes, Champion is a charter operator, but this may be what they call "scheduled charter".

Service is okay, but for the price you're paying, I guess you're not expecting champagne and caviar.

You don't mention your dates. if it is about now, then the price you got is not surprising.

This is considered "off-season" in Cancun - it is hotter than Hades. There are tourists there, but the hotels are a long way from full.

A lot of airlines are offereing great deals, especially air/hotel packages.

cheers

I leave 5am on 8/6 and return late 8/10

Hotter than hades? Everywhere I have looked it says the avg temp is around 90F.

I live in dallas and it is +/-2* from 100F every day. I will welcome 90*F with ocean breeze with open arms!

Consider the humidity difference. I went to SJU in August a couple of years ago... no fun at all.

I work as a RM for a Mexican Hotel Chain that has four properties in Cancun and I can tell you this is not Off-season in Cancun. On contraire, our hotels are at 90% for all July and the first 15 days of August. Off-season in Cancun is September and October. Jetter2, enjoy Cancun!!!!!!!!! and by the way, great fare you got. Here in Mexico you just can´t get a flight to Cancun for less than $400 USD even on a schedule charter flight.

Our daily scheduled flight from DFW to CUN for those dates (as of today) is $373.12 (including all taxes). That's on a 737-800.

Dogfighter if you are finding fares that low I need to know about them! I have never seen a price of a flight MAN-CUN for that!!!! And I've worked i travel for 12 years! $210 is GBP105.00 or thereabouts. Thats the price of air tax alone!!!

Perhaps you'd like to elaborate on that?

I am on the mailing list for MLT and/or 11th Hour, and I periodically get emails with MG DFW-CUN R/T's as low as $79.00. When they get close to departure date and have significant space left, they dump big time to derive marginal revenue.

So the deal you got was not bad , by any means (esp. compared to AA), but it is not MG's hottest price.

And, by the way, in my experience, MG does a fine job. Just make sure that you have all your paperwork in order when you get to the airport at DFW. And don't pack anything too embarrassing in your bags, because all bags are hand-searched at CUN when you are returning.

The humidity is outrageous here. Usually above 60%. I'll take that ocean breeze with a cold one any day  Wink

I booked through a Travel agent that went through MLT. I can't wait for the 722!

Well I head you're best bet to book trips is around 6 weeks out. Its when the prices start to drop. I'd be scared to sit on my hands and hope that CCP has a 25% full flight so I could get a great deal lol.

I'm staying at the Gran Costa Real All Inclusive! I CAN'T WAIT! Just me and my 19 year old buddy going down there to party hardy =]

From what I've heard, its best just to take you're ATM card down with you and pull money then. But everyone around here I have talked to that went said take USD$.
