Old STL ATC Tower To Come Down This Week....

Mon Jul 11, 2005 3:41 am

I made a post a while back that this was in the works, but now it is immenent. The crane are in place and will start demolision this week, probably starting Monday.    Nothing dramatic. They'll be taking it down piece by piece.

So if you like the old tower, get your cameras out quick.

Regards

Interesting. Have you seen any of the preliminary blueprints/concepts for the proposed midfield terminal - a portion of which would be roughly where the old tower is.

This assumes that they ever need such a facility and/or can afford to build it! The whole W-1W project has been a joke what with the decline of AA flights!

Can anyone tell me why has it taken over 8 years to do so. IIRC the new tower was done by 1997.

Probably won't happen this week. The weather is supposed to suck.

BoeingNut, what are you guys doing at F and F7?

Taxiway edgelight work. They are supposed to continue on F between L and M next.

Ah ha.

When you guys get some extra asphalt, do you think you could pave the gravel road going up to the cargo ramp? We'd appreciate it, and the engines would thank you too.

UPDATE:

The demolition contractors had some problems. The earliest they will start is on 7/18 but if weather cooperates, they'll start on it then.
