UAX BAE 146

Sat Jul 16, 2005 1:46 pm

I am flying on one later this month, because many people suggested that I pick that flight when I was asking for advice earlier in the spring. I was curious to hear what type of condition they are in, from people who have flown them recently..Or know. Are they comfortable, are they very worn down, etc. etc.?

Thanks!

I've probably flown on 50 BAe-146 segments, mostly in/out of RDU on AWI. Here's what I think about the 146...

They are old, but they are better than a CRJ. Actually they are quite comfortable. I'd avoid the first and last rows. The last rows very between the -100 -200 and -300, but I would avoid going any further back than row 17 and you should be fine. It's usually much coooler in the back rows b/c the A/C duct systems are somewhat antiquated on the Illustrious BAe-146.

They fly slow, but for an express carrier with relatively short routes, the 146 is a good airplane IMO.

Cheers,

...and there's no reverse thrust...so you can sleep right through a 146 landing...that is if the noise from the flaps deploying hasn't already waken you...  Smile

I've flown an Avro on Mesaba a few years ago, but never a BAE 146. Thank you everyone for your help! I can't wait for my trip.
