Is This Lufthansa's New Livery?

Mon Jul 18, 2005 6:52 am

I came across a picture and an interesting entry at 'Modified Airliner Photos', suggesting LH will publish its new livery in the August issue of its crew magazine.

http://www.cardatabase.net/modifieda...earch/photo_search.php?id=00005502

Additionally I have heard some talk around MUC which suggests the same...well, who knows, let's just wait and see.

Regards
Udo

On would have thought this would have been done last year it being that was the 50th anniversiry of LH or are they waiting to change to this new livery for the entry of the A380 into service? Also an artist impression cannot due justice to the golden color until they actually decide on this as a livery change for there a/c. Eitherway it looks ok on the A380.

BTW: when does LH get there first A380's and what route will they fly?

I prefer the current scheme. This new one isn't very adventurous, and it looks rather like Monarch.

Never thought I'd say this but: Give me the bland Eurowhite over this colorscheme anyday! Heck, if we can't have the Retro-colors as the regular scheme, lets not wast resources on something like that proposed livery.

No, LH will not change IMO. They try to express their conservative yet modern/professional image with their current livery, which that new one would never do. Remember that yellow belly livery in the 90s that ultimately became Condor. I believe I heard that a flight crew refused to enter that plane. There was a 732 and an A310 in that livery. I'll dig up some pics in a sec.

Ugh! Why do so many airlines with good liveries feel they need to change theirs? LH's is one of the best out there, IMO. If it ain't broke, don't fix it!

Hi Udo,

Will it be in the Lufthanseat, or does LH have a separate publication for crew only?

Thanks

Sorry for the double post. Realized that it wasn't published yet.

Hello my good friend Udo,

Let's hope LH doesn't use that new livery as I much prefer their current scheme.

I'm sure that LH will update their livery when the A380 is introduced. I'm not expecting to much of a drastic change, but a nice update will most likely happen.

The "proposed" livery on modified airliner photos.net is nice, but knowing the German people, very unlikely to happen.

When LTU wanted to change their red planes to white a few years back, they got some pretty nasty responses from their customer base and the general public. IIRC, there were just a couple of A320's painted like this.

And if Germany's national carrier were to make such a drastic change, will someone please send me a copy of the Bild Zeitung that day? I'm sure that the headline would read....

Bild would only ask that if the CEO was caught in a cockpit having "fun" with a pilot... I guess Bild would not notice at all that LH have a new paintscheme...

Looking at that livery though, I must say, the crane on the fuselage is something I could imagine to happen with the intro of the 380. Not the colored body and the nacelles (would be nice though...), but a huge crane on the side like shown in that one... that is something I could imagine to happen...

Utterly utterly vile. Why change such a simple, clean and professional scheme?

I somehow doubt that a new livery would have its 1st release at Modified Airliner Photos. Then again you never know - but I doubt it.

As boring as LH's current scheme is, let's hope that's just the idle doodlings of a saddoe "Modified Airliners" contributor.............

If they DO change ("Euro-white" is SO '80s Dwahling"!  rotfl  ) they could do worse than base it on that GORGEOUS "retro-jet" A321 of theirs. Now THAT'S a livery!!

Seems like a huge waste of money for a change that's BARELY noticible.. just the bigger bird logo, and a little retarted 'wave' thing on the bottom of the fuseolodge. Ridiculous, I hope this rumor's not true...

This was discussed a couple of times in various aviation boards, but probably not here at a.net yet. Verdict always was that this is NOT LH's future scheme, but rather a lame attempt by the creator of this virtual livery to stirr up some interest. Don't you think that a big company like LH would care for a little more secrecy when it comes to a rebranding?

Hi,
let me give you an answer. Lufthansa has a magazine called "cabin whats up?" that is more or less only read by the flight attendants. Most of the articles are written by flight attendants. I write for this magazine and it will have an article about "modifiedairlinerphotos" and the different LH designs they are showing there in the next issue. I asked several people there for their permission to use their designs just to show what would be possible, one of them was GP, whose picture we see up there. I dont even know which ones will finally be chosen. The fact that one or several of the fantasy designs is presented in this magazine does not mean that a new colour scheme is due anytime soon. Although from my point of view that would be a nice idea...

why do people from this website keep taking those cardatabase photos seriously?? they're great fun to look at but I have seen sooo many threads where people have thought they are they new liveries! i seem to remember a us airways one a short while back.

Jeepers the chances are if its on that website - its fantasy.

Thats not to mean however that I think the people who create them should not continue as some are great designs, and others are good entertainment! who knows, one day, one of them may be used by a real airline!

LH one of the best liveries? Ha, ha, I would probably say it is one of the worst. Boring, unfitting on most aircraft types and appearing disproportionate across the fleet.

It is by far one of the least attractive paint jobs and one that never quite works complementary to the lines of many an aircraft.

I totally agree with this post. I love the current LH livery and I hope they do not change it to the monstrosity that Udo pointed us to. But, I suppose, they will follow the general trend of airlines who take nice liveries and totally screwing them up...  Sad

The current LH scheme shows a crane which is flying before the sun. The scheme mentioned by Udo would show a yellow crane before a black sun or with a solar eclipse. That`s a little bit bizare.

I also think, that the current painting is boring, but Udo's example from cardatabase.net is ugly.

I expect a new scheme, but it will be more conservative and the changes will be more subtler.

Well I think if Lufthansa changed the format to 16 million colors, turned on line-smoothing, and exported it as an uncompressed JPEG, this livery could stand a fighting chance!  scratchchin

I think it would be an improvement over the current bland scheme. I hope this is a trend to more colorful schemes, instead of the "all-white and a little color in the tail" schemes.

If there's a grain of truth in this "modifyed livery" then I'll suggest two cost cutting measures for LH:

1. Keep the good (!!!) ole Livery - it's really both classic and classy
2. Fire the @!#*%-hole that has spent money for a new livery design.

Sorry for being so implicit and direct, but giant BS needs a direct blow.

i cant believe people on here are still discussing this livery as though it were a realistic officially endorsed future option. it looks tacky and disgusting besides it being merely an amateur design.

however i do quite like the livery link provided by ACDC8, its ten times better, and if Lufthansa had to choose between the fantasy liveries then I would go for that one anyday.

In real terms new liveries are almost always kept secret, and the chances of lufthansa using one from a website are 99 - 1. although if they did, good luck to the designer, as they will be getting very rich  Smile
