50 Min Transfer Time In SIN Enough?

Tue Jul 19, 2005 11:23 am

Just looked at my ticket for my return flight from CGK to CDG via SIN on SQ; my transfer time is only 50 minutes. Is this enough time or will I be rushing like mad ?

It should be enough. Your GCK flight will most likely get in a little early leaving you probably 60+ minutes to transfer. Not much time for shopping at Changi.

plenty of time or the system wouldn't have allowed you to book it.

If the airline says 50 minutes to transfer then 50 minutes will get you transfered to your next flights, its as simple as that.

At SIN, when you get off the aircraft you just go to 'Connections' when you are close to the Baggage Claim. There may be a bus to take you to another Terminal or you are walking to the Security Checkpoint before the Departure Lounge. Should only take 30 mins. In time for boarding.

Thanks

If both flights are on SQ, then you have more than enough time since both flights will arrive/depart from T2. The travelators (moving walkways) are also very helpful. If you are parked on the end of the F-pier and need to get to the end of the E-pier, then you may have to walk pretty quick! You can visit Changi's website for more info: www.changi.airport.com.sg

No worries - did a 20min transfer a couple of weeks ago. Even my luggage made it!

I am not sure Dogfighter2111 is talking about Singapore Changi Airport - sure does not sound like it.

You will notice that on your IFE screen near the end of the Jakarta-Singapore sector, a list of connecting flights will be displayed with their gate numbers. You will also see the gate your flight from Jakarta will dock at.

Just let the crew know in advance that you have a 50-minute connection, and chances are that they will bring you to a seat near to the door just before landing in SIN, and ensure that you get priority when de-planing.

Once you exit the aerobridge, just check with the ground crew for the direction to the gate where your connecting flight is.

In all, a breeze . . . so no worry. As Pilatusguy said, even a 20-minute transfer is not impossible.

I agree, 50 minutes at Changi is more than enough time. The longest connections wuold be between T1 and T2, and that really doesn't take but 10 or 12 minutes -- although, like most things, it feels longer.

If you are changing flight with the same airline, you shouldn't even have to change terminals, and it's easy as pie.  Smile

NO, it's not enough!
Too many things to see and experience in Changi. It's the best airport I've been to (I've never been to new KUL, new HKG, KIX. I'm curious to know how good they are). If you have no time constraint, why don't you switch to an earlier flight from CGK?

I agree. Last time I had a 2.5 hour layover at SIN and that was barely enough to walk from one end to the other and back (with lots of gawking in between)

That's a pretty close call.

I am going through FCO this August and I only have an hour and I was wondering if it was enough time. But I found out it should be.

don't worry, if your flight is delayed or anything or the gates are too far apart, SQ will send a golf-cart lookalike thing at your arrival gate to pick u up n send u to the departure gate...
it happened to me in march 2005 when my inbound KUL flight arrive late while my connecting time to LAX was like 40 minutes and the gates were like 5 miles apart... SQ sent someone to drive us to the departing gate, no walking required  Smile

Thank you all for the responses. Yes, i guess i wont have time to do some (window shopping in SIN). But I will do that on the way over....I fly CDG to SIN...then I will take SIN CGK and have managed to get a seat on a flight that should be operated by an A345 !
Does boarding usually start 30 minutes before departure time for SQ ?
