DL/Song Cancellation Policy

This is the story:

On June 29th, 2005 I booked a flight JFK-FLL on JetBlue and the return on Song because it was half the price. However, today JetBlue announced their huge fall sale and I saw the return trip became less than I was paying for Song. So I called Song to cancel so that I could book on JetBlue.

The first time I called Song, I was told that I could use the credit (-$25 change fee) if I BOOKED my flight by June 29th, 2006. The second time I called, I was told that I had to FLY by June 29th, 2006 (big argument with the res. agent, who very rude btw). The third time I called, I was once again told that I had to BOOK by June 29th, 2006. So I ended up taking his word for it because he told me that he was being 100% sincere and I cancelled my flight.

So -- can someone give me a straight answer here? Do I BOOK by June 29th or FLY by June 29th?

hopefully you lose your money cheap ass. consumers like these are the reasons airlines today offer crap service and are all heading for the cutting ground.

Hopefully he also gets a center seat on B6 with two large people on both sides, his plane goes tech, and they lose his luggage. That way he truely gets what he paid for (not meant to be negative against B6).

People want Greyhound fares, they should get Greyhound service!

Reguarding the "greyhound fares" comment. Personally, I like the low fare airlines...however, when the airlines that fly $79 one way on FLL-BDL post $209-249 for the holidays, that gets me. I wouldn't mind paying the $209-249 IF that was the normal fare, but when an airline establishes itself as low fare, well that high fare isn't right. In fact with this sale, B6 from LGA, WN, and mainline DL are cheaper than song (noting a stop on all but B6.)...

Even the low fare airlines, when they have a monopoly on a route, will charge a higher fare.

BTW, that B6 sale is incredible!

Don't berate JetBlueFan for getting a new ticket -- it's his money and he can do with it as he pleases. Besides, he still has to use his money on Song, so how is he being a cheap ass? In reality, he's just spending money in advance and handing over the $25 fee.

If you can get a cheaper fare and make it work -- all the more power to you. That's why fare sales are offered. It's consumers who don't fly UNLESS they get the cheap fare, not those who try to get the cheapest WHEN they fly who hurt the industry (after all, if an airline is offering a cheap fare, one would think they would want people to buy it, no?)
