Oh boy - another thread to remind me how old I am!
As a UMNR
Waiting in the office behind the AS
ticket counter waiting for my flight to Juneau, and getting to help with check-in.
Sitting in the captains seat of a 727 in SEA
running through the check list with the co-pilot (yup - still called 'em co-pilots and stewardesses back then)
Being taken to the lower galley of a WA
DC-10 in LAX
and getting to ride the elevator on the plane!
As a young adult -
Spending hours at various airports around the country watching everything from F-27s to 747s come and go. Walking out to every gate, just so I could get a feel for the airports layout.
Sneaking into the recently completed but unopened Anchorage Int'l Terminal and ending up getting a guided tour by the night watchman.
Switching my NW
ticket at the last moment so I could ride a National DC-10 up from LAX
Splurging on my ticket to college and flying F on CO
so I could visit the pub on board.
Yep - them were the days.
