NW DC10 On Domestic US Flights?

Sat Jul 23, 2005 10:37 pm

I know that there are a number of flights within the USA which are still operated by widebodies (almost always the 767), but does NW operate the DC10 on any internal flights? I bet it doesn't.

Also, which domestic routings (to the best of your knowledge) are operated by the 772? I know that DL did, or still does, operate ATL-MCO. Does AA still operate the 772 on MIA-JFK? What are the plans for the winter season?

NW DC10s only run to Hawaii--so no lower 48 runs. As far as 777s:
DL ATL-MCO
CO Use to fly IAH-EWR, IAH-LAX, IAH-HNL, but no more.
AA DFW-MIA, DFW-ORD, MIA-JFK, and they sometimes put the 777 on DFW-LAX.
UA: DEN-SFO, DEN-LAX, SFO-IAD, DEN-IAD, ORD-SFO, Hawaii runs, DEN-ORD, and I'm sure I left off a couple of hub-hub routes.

As recently as 3 years ago, they did run the DC10's on domestic routes, such as DTW/MSP to MCO, SFO, LAX, LAS, PHX, SEA and BOS. They also ran the DC10's between MEM and MSP, MSP and DTW and I think also for a short while between DTW and MEM. I took the DC10 between MEM and MSP and vice versa, always made sure I got that flight as I love to fly the widebodies!

I flew a UA 777 from ORD-IAD last year, it was pretty much full up down the back so I assume its likely to be a regular thing. It was only $69 too!

Now NW's DC 10s in BOS are going to and from AMS.

NW stopped doing domestic DC-10 flights with the retirement of the DC-10-40.

back in 97 when I was going to SAN, I flew NW and went BOS-MSP on a DC-10 and MSP-SAN on another DC-10

DC-10-40s also ran MSP-MKE as recently as 2-3 years ago... it was an RON in MKE due to lack of parking in MSP and line m/x in MKE.

I remember when NW operated DC-10s into CLE and 727s down to TPA n/s....ahh, the good old days. Connecting in TPA to a 757 for the jump over to FLL.

That recently? Wow... Still wish they used D10s on MSP-SAN, or at least 753s...

About five or six years ago, NW ended their DTW-MCO DC 10 once or twice a day during high traffic season to MCO which was around spring break. My son and I took it down and back..I'm pretty sure they were model 40's, but that was then and this is now....Biggest thing NW schedules into MCO right now is 757-300's, but I'll tell ya gang, it would not surprise me if NW put on an A 330 for a month or so during the spring breaks in 2006.

Hi folks!

Could you please provide specific flight numbers of the non-767 widebody flights operated within the USA? I am having particular trouble finding UA and AA examples. Please note that this would be for early December.

A possible itinerary, based on flying the 346, 764, 772 and 744, would be:

LHR-LAX (VS 346)
LAX-ATL (DL 764)
ATL-MCO (DL 772)
MCO-LGW (VS 744)

Any others would be most welcome.

I used to love the NW 747 flights from MKE to MSP.

You won't see anymore NW widebody domestic flying in the forseeable future. The DC-10's are on their way out, and the A330's are far more valuable on the international flights, but will eventually show up to replace the DC-10's on the DTW/MSP-HNL flights.

As for non-767 domestic widebody service, the only thing you will find will be those operated by 777's by United, AA, and Delta. AA only has a few repositioning flights between hubs on 777's, and DL has a few on their busiest of routes at times.
