A Third MD-83 Joins The SAM Fleet.

Sun Jul 24, 2005 5:29 am

In BOG, i saw a third MD-83 with SAM titles, registration EI-CCC, parked next to EI-CBS. And when I was going to fly back to BOG from SMR, i flew EI-CDY, so one of AV´s aircraft has joined the MM fleet?

BTW; The 16th MD-83 is already flying, saw it take off from BOG and SMR.

Ireland registered. Is it leased?

Is MM servicing ADZ?

Hello TACA;

Yes, it is leased, and most of AV´s fleet is Ireland registered.

MM services ADZ with a daily departure from BOG, which becomes 2x daily in the high travel periods (June-August, December-January, Holy Week)

Hi.

How is the competition with CM?

My question exactly. Besides what is the strategy for MM anyway? I have read on other threads that AV plans to transform it in some way of Avianca Express or just to keep it as is... Any update?

It has Summa colours, I guess its an ex-AV aircraft as the new MD-83 is already flying, maybe its just a temporary switch.

Man, no offense, but these are old news. I saw EI-CCC in SAM colors in MDE around three weeks ago, and its addition to SAM's fleet was already mentioned in a previous thread and in several photographies.

A.net user Wimpycol, on his visit to MDE, had the opportunity to fly this aicraft on his MDE-BOG flight and he was very pleased; this was two weeks ago.

...And not to mention that N836RA, the latest MD-83 you mention, has already been flying since late-June.

Not most. Roughly the third part of AV's fleet is Ireland-registered. The rest are Holland and US-registered.

It is. AV has been operating EI-CCC for more around 15 years now, it was one of the pioneer MDs in AV's fleet.

I had the chance to fly MDE-CTG-MIA in this bird in March of 1997.

Really? Well than that thread did not even care a bit about it, cuz no one saw the news, just you.

And yes, I saw the aircraft in BOG like 2 weeks ago, thing is i was in Sta. Marta and i wasnt gonna loose time in posting that while on vacation.

BTW, Also saw one of the F-50s in D-check, so the next member of the fleet in the new colors will be the fokker.

The new colors look much better in person than in pictures.
