Two Delta Questions

1. Has the airline painted any more planes in the new scheme? I've only seen the one 777. Does anybody have any kind of painting schedule information?

2. What about that 767-400 they have? Is it actually ijn service use? I couldn't find any mention of it on their website. How many will they be getting and when?

Hi! Delta airlines currently only has one or two B-777s in the new c/s that my Dad knows of, but the airline says the entire fleet will be in the new new colorscheme by 2003 so we'll see. The B-767-400 is no in operation yet, but the airline plans to replace L-1011's flying to Hawaii with the first few B-767-400s. They wil be used to replace L-1011's which will be gone by next summer and compliment current B-767/777 and MD-11 schedules, btw, the MD-11 will no longer fly to Asia as of the end of this year. They will fly solely domestic flights plus Europe. Atleast thats what Delta says. Delta also said all of ther B-727's will be gone by the end of this year, but that is if DL gets the required # of B-737's. Anyways. TTYL!

Uhh, not quite dude.

Delta still has 120 727 in service. With the backlog on the 737NG production line, they will be getting a lot less than 120 738's this year. I think they are shooting for 727 full retirement by 2005.

The MD11 will stay on Pacific routes since there are only 7 777's in the fleet at present and all of them are used on European routes (especially LGW-ATL, CVG-LGW).

I doubt the entire fleet can be repainted in 3 years but it's possible.

According to the orders census, the first 767-400 will be delivered May 2000 as N828MH. Delta will have 10 764 by year's end. Not sure if the Boeing strike delayed its introduction; I think this is the case. CO's delivery dates were pushed back for the 764, so I would assume DL's were also.

Hi,
Delta currently has the new livery on N863DA and N864DA. One of these planes has the full livery (titles, tail, etc.), while the other has only the titles (the Olympic plane). The Olympic 757 might have the new titles on it, if it doesn't look for it very soon. The first 764 has not been delivered, but delivery is scheduled for either May or June. The flights to Asia will be flown by 777s and MD-11s until more 777s arrive. After that, they intend to base the MD-11s at JFK and ATL for Trans-Atlantic service. The 727s will NOT be all out by the end of the year. Delta still has 104 in mainline service and 16 on the shuttle. The shuttle is going to start the 738 in July, but there is no way that Delta will be able to get 121 738s in 8 months, you have to remember that Boeing has other customers. Last I heard the 727s were going to be gone totally by 2004-2006.

M11 In GRU

You don't seem to remember that Delta is using M11 in its daily service between Atlanta(ATL)-Sao Paulo(GRU). The service is proving popular and Delta has just sought authority for new flights into Brazil.
