FAA.GOV Info On EWR Tonight

Tue Jul 26, 2005 9:59 am

General Arrival Delays: Due to ZBW HLDG FOR VIP MOVEMENT, arrival traffic is experiencing airborne delay between 16 minutes and 30 minutes and increasing.
Due to ZDC HLDG FOR VIP MOVEMENT, arrival traffic is experiencing airborne delay between 31 minutes and 45 minutes and increasing.

What kind of a delay is this I know there is weather in the area but what is the VIP part that it shows?

I've been seeing that VIP notice all afternoon, and have no idea what they are talking about. Maybe VIP's are coming to see the 777LR; all I know is that traffic has been delayed all day.

It could be anyone of high power, but generally means the president.

Now it is saying: " Due to DEPT STOP,Traffic is experiencing Gate Hold and Taxi delays between 46 minutes and 1 hour in length and increasing."

There are some big delays going on at EWR right now, thank goodness I'm not flying out tonight.

On my way into Manhattan this morning where I go to Grad School I passed EWR at about 7:30Am and there was a USAF C-17 parked on the former EWR Tower ramp, on my way home at about 4:30PM the C-17 was still there.

Perhaps it's related..

VP Cheney was in Staten Island today. He flew into EWR on Air Force 2 sometime this morning and is now leaving, hence the VIP movement.

Now there are enroute thunderstorms causing delays. Looks like nothing is going right tonight.
