Delta Adds Service From ATL To The West

Wed Jul 27, 2005 2:09 am

It looks like DL has extended their ATL-BOI service to year-round. They're also starting service from ATL-PSP.

ATL-BOI must be doing well. 207 destinations served from ATL and climbing.

ATL-BOI has done very well, so has ATL-RNO. Nice niche market they have filled there.

ATL-PSP isn't new though, it has been running seasonally for about three years now.

No real surprises here. ATL-PSP returns every year anyway, but it is good that ATL-BOI has traffic levels high enough to warrant year-round service. Now if only that was true for all other seasonal-only service. Would make it easier to overlook the number of destinations served  Wink .

I really am suprised that they haven't added non stop service from ATL to more mid sized markets in the midwest, such as CID (Cedar Rapids, IA), MSN (Madison, WI), GRB (Green Bay, WI) or FSD (Sioux Falls, SD). Especially when you see markets of similar or smaller size nearby like PIA (Peoria, IL) or Appleton WI that do have non stop ATL service.......

Interesting that ATL-BOI works, but routes like DFW-BOI can't seem to make a profit.
"Lose" is not spelled with two o's!!!!

But part of the idea of CVG is to cover the Midwest through there... such as CO at CLE instead of running everyone to EWR/IAH... and how US could and should have done PIT nowadays. If DL gives you options to CVG from those cities, you've got most of the system covered... in a much more convenient airport to connect in.

BOI and the surrounding region has been growing tremendously the last few years, a lot of economic development there, as the strongly Republican state has strived to be business-friendly, luring more businesses there. If they don't already, I wouldn't be surprised to see some flights to Canada as well in the future.
And the winner for best actress is....REESE WITHERSPOON for 'Walk the Line'!!!!!!!!

Is ATL-PSP operated by a 738 still? I flew that route last year, and it had the EmPower ports. I hope its not a 752.

Yes with 16F and 134Y.
It's a big building with patients, but that's not important right now.

Any chance of a EWR-BOI on CO?

I doubt it considering the shaky performances on EWR-TUS, EWR-SMF, and EWR-RNO, which are larger markets.

I think the so-called 'shaky performance' is largely due to the fact of the lack of Continental's advertising on its domestic markets.

Other than CO's press releases, you wouldn't really know that CO offered non-stop EWR-TUS/SMF/RNO/OAK/DSM...

There was quite the media blitz for the TUS, RNO, and SMF flights. The Reno media was all over the RNO-EWR flight, even though it was Saturday-only, and the Tucson flight actually had great loads, just weak financial performance. The Sacramento flight was launched as a response to jetBlue, and people went to jetBlue.

Their ABE-CLE service isn't very well known. Many people here in the Lehigh Valley, when you mention CO, automatically say "Oh, you mean the bus to Newark?" It's a shame that service isn't very well known, because it's ALOT better than NW's CRJ/Avro/DC9 mix to PHL, and leaps and bounds above anything US/UA can cobble together.

todd/tornado82,
first of all nwa does not fly to phl from lehigh.the mix that of a/c that nwa offers out of abe to DTW is way better than those roomy erj135s to cle....its very clear that you have a @#$%on for any one other than aa or co after reading your posts...co in cle is like yx in mke...very limited service to the midwest great plains compared to nwa in dtw...you can pretty much get anywhere in the heartland out of dtw...if not fly thru cvg and get to the same place as well....and dont get me going on that aweful airline ual..as you put it so nicely..
bus driver.......move that bus:)
