Ilyushin Will Sign "big Contracts" Soon

Wed Jul 27, 2005 3:29 pm

According to Mr. Rubtsov the CEO of "Ilyushin Finance Co", his company will sign some "significant contracts" most probably during the MAKS 2005 Airshow in Moscow in August. This was said during the presentation of a brand new
IL 96-300 which will be soon delivered to Cubana Airlines.

I wonder who might be the customers for the Russian A 340? I mean apart from the CIS airlines.

Quoting Kevin (Thread starter):

I can't think of any other than the CIS airliners, Cuba and.....Venezuela ?
President Hugo Chavez is a big friend of Fidel Castro and closer to Russia then to the US.
Although I don't believe that Conviasa will switch its plans from Boeing to Ilyushin, there are sometimes political issues if the airline (Conviasa) is state-owned.

Aeroflot has been planning to buy 6 IL96s since a long time.
Krasair had some plans as well. But it usually takes a very long time for Russian airlines to make a decision.
