Personally, I don't think it's realistic. It's an incredible dream but nothing more than that. While I believe the demand is present around the world, I question how feasible such an operation is. I also question where one would generate the start-up capital. I doubt Montreal is the best base for such a concept. I see nothing has been submitted so far to Transport Canada requesting for an Air Operators Certificate and so I question the project even further. I'll ask around and see what kind of information I can dig. But I think this idea will end up a virtual airline before or if it ever turns to a reality.

Don't get me wrong - I'd love to see such an airline exist but in light of the fact it was based on a previous idea by the same person under the name of Top Hat airlines which never got off the ground, I'd doubt this one would. I wonder who the management and investors are - maybe it's Michel Leblanc and the Jetsgo team trying to reinvent themselves  Wink

Furthermore, it looks like the airline wants to operate flights from other countries other than Canada to other countries. It seems to be a huge undertaking where some innovator is trying to take a concept and implement it around the world but many countries don't allow 100% foreign ownership of airlines.

Seems a bit fanciful to me.

I can understand YUL-BRU, but YUL-PER??

Somebody's not been doing their homework.

Setting aside the almost certainly insurmountable logistical problems to start-up such a venture---YUL can support very few if any of those new destinations as a stand-alone service. It is utterly fanciful. Loking at their proposed route map would have YUL about as well, or better, connected than JFK?

Please don't anyone hit their defence mechanism button on this one--I am not slagging YUL or Montreal--but let's be objective people: who rationally believes that YUL- Johannesburg or YUL Bangkok on a 744 is a logical consideration? Just look at that map.

YUL is not a large international market and in any event it is rightly already well served by European carriers on routes that support themselves.

Good luck trying to get anyone to invest in this daydream.

It's not getting off the ground for sure!!

CWA's fleet consists of 4 Boeing 747 400 ERs, supported by 15 McDonald Douglas MD 83 aircrafts. While the 747 will be configured for 194 passengers, the shuttles will be configured with 60 seats. The shuttles, five each at the hubs, shall cater to connections within 30 minutes between arrival and departure.

Look at their route map and how they plan to fly to those places with just 4 747s!

Uhh yeah, that website seems like a big joke to me. First of all it reads like a 15 year old wrote it, and second of all the business plan is completely untenable. The people who can afford to travel like that can also afford to do NetJets or buy their own planes.

If you read about all the stuff on board the 747 they want to have, doctors on each flight on standby, 2 smoking rooms for the smoking customers, and even the possibilty of building their own airport just outside of montreal to better serve the public,

Quote:
A second choice is that CWA builds its own airport in order to better respond to the needs of its market. Ideally the airport will be built, if permitted, to the west of the Island of Montreal in the village of St. Polycarpe in the region of De Beaujeu,

I dunno sounds like a pipe dream and a fancy website to me, and nothing more.

McDonalds's sells planes? That says all. And from where do they want to get 4 B744ERs? New ones from Boeing? I Highly doubt that. To me it sounds like a wet dream  Wink

"On the main deck, one will find the Mont Royal suite located in the front of the cabin near the nose of the plane, equipped with a King size bed, a fireplace in winter, an aquarium in summer, and with a living room and satellite TV of 46 inches etc., full bathroom with bidet and whirl pool bath of 38 inches in diameter, sauna, shower and ECRS-pods. Two servers will be available throughout the flight as well as a secretary. The Mont Royal suite will be convertible to “Top Class” accommodating up to 4 individual passengers, with a single bed to offer comfort and privacy."

Sounds Great! But I'l believe it when i see it with my own eyes, lol  Smile

This thing sounded at first like Just What the World Needs! Seriously, there are people who will spend that kind of money for the best, and this concept would exceed the snob appeal of merely flying in a private jet (unless it was a 747SP or something.) When I got to the FIREPLACE, however, I smelled a rat.

That site is hilarious. Look at the configurations here: http://www.canadaworldairlines.com/en/fleet.html Big grin Big grin

I particularly like the "Horses Area" in the tail of the MD-83.

Of course, M. Bazra will be remembered by some as the proprietor of Canada Air Charter which was put out of business by TC after selling non-existent air services. Either he's barking mad, or someone has come up with a brilliant parody.

I think the above sums up whatever needs to be said about this topic. I tried really hard to think of something funny to say, but the site is just too mind-boggling to comment on.

In Quebec's defense, however, I must say they do have very good looking women...

Wow, horse owners must be really excited:

Since such owners and their horse are often inseparable, this allows the animal to feel reassured and the owner is able to stroke him as he wishes during the flight.

Has anyone taken a look at the route map?

The required airline freedom rights (fifth, eighth and ninth come to mind...) are absolutely MIND BOGGLING. I mean, they'd HAVE to be carrying local traffic to consistently fill up those planes!!!

I can just imagine some kids somewhere deciding to have a little prank and see what they can stir up on a site like Airliner's. In the internet age, it's amazing what you can do with some webspace and a copy of Microsoft Frontpage or other website building programs. Have you seen the website on the Mar's colony yet? Somebody somewhere is sitting back and yelling "Fish on" as he reads this thread. LMAO

Ok - have looked at the website - definitely some kid who probably reads the posts on A.net and has condensed a potted history of the airline industry (eg first class disappearing) and the old Pan-Am hub-spoke model into some pipe dream -

the best thing is that whoever did this left obvious clues that they're not serious....direct flights from Montreal to Antananarivo (Madagascar)?? Well, sure - I know plenty of elite horse owners (who, incidentally, "have become very important throughout the world") who would jump at the chance to fly their horse out to Madagascar without those tricky transits...WAY TO GO!!

I quite like this site - its got some real charm...

I think this has to be a joke or something... they are talking routes like this:

YUL-SIN = 7,998NM
YUL-PER = 9,875NM
YUL-SYD = 8,650NM
YUL-AKL = 7,761NM

The 744ER has a max range of 7,670NM.

A quote from there site:

PHASE 3

ON B747-400ER
From Montreal: Honolulu, Tokyo, Taipei, Manila, Singapore, Noumea, Sidney, Perth, Auckland and Papeete

Since when was Sydeny spelled with an "i"? What an  Embarrassment

This site is a joke and gives us all a few laughs.

I am not sure about this, but they state that they need 21 747-400ER

"With the full development of our operations we will need twenty-one 747-400s and thirty-six MD83s. While the MDs will contribute to the launching of the project, they eventually will be replaced with the airplane of tomorrow, the Bombardier Series C."

But well, it sounds too realistic lol

Even in my best dreams, I do not see my home airport being served like this! YUL-ASU would make my Paraguayan friend really happy, instead of the usual journey YUL-(YYZ or EWR or JFK or ATL or MIA)-GRU-ASU...

Big joke! It made my day  Smile YUL could certainly use a couple more Latin-America routes, but to be honest, we are fairly connected to the world!
