Go Jet2 flew them to Nice from MAN in April, very good service for an LCC. Could they join Star, set up a hub at MAN to replace BMI, then buy their 332's and show them what an Airline needs to do. Pick up the staff from BMI, great people.

I had a choice on there LGW service with BA, and I chose BA, better timings, more flights, and surprising BA were only a few pound more, and you get free food and drinks, and more choice on departure times.

They still are a very popular airline from Manchester, I will try them one day. Can't wait for them to add a 757 to the Manchester fleet, see Menzies struggle without a belt on those! Like they did with WW's A320 leased from BD, what a laugh.

I was thinking of the same thing given BMI's decision to drop IAD.  bigthumbsup

The Jet2 cabin crew are nice. Really friendly and some really lovley looking young men and women! They are perhaps the best crew I have encountered on a no-frills airlines.

They wear a smart unifrom and look very professional. Heads and shoulders above BMIBaby.

I too would fly Jet2, particularly over shorter sectors. I dont fancy them from LBA-TFS without at least the option to purchase a hot meal.

Is the Jet2 'lunchbox' only available from the male cabin crew members? Big grin

Seen many male cabin crew on Jet2 in them tight Nylon black trousers who could certainly tempt me to a Jet 2 lunchbox !

I feel the same, 7LBAC111. To put it into context, I would prefer to read about Orion's time-honoured views of inflight refreshments. OK, perhaps I wouldn't.  At least this s fun to read.  Silly

I don't think any of this is widely known just yet. I've as yet to hear a report of where the 757s are destined for. There has been a rumour of late that one is coming to MAN......spose it might be best suited to AGP.....?

Not MAN-LGW thats for sure. On many routes from Manchester, Jet2 only just manages to fill the 733, so I have serious reservations about their ability to fill the 757.

I've just come back from Stuttgart and was impressed at the amount of Jet2 a/c at MAN, looks like they giving it a real go.

I've not had the pleasure of Jet2 yet but I'm sure it'll happen at some point.

Weren't there some murmurings a few months ago that loco LBAJFK as being looked at? That would certainly fill a 757!

As far as I am aware, the 2 B757's will be LBA based. Advertisements for recruitment of crews for the aircraft have been made on this basis. No confirmation of routes for the B757's has been made public yet, though the new LBA-TFS commencing in October seems the main reason for the aquisition. LBA-AGP and LBA-ALC are also very strong performing routes, even during winter so I wouldn't be surprised to see them operating these services too.

Are the 757s aquired by Jet2 to be equipped with a galley capable of offering for sale a hot meal? After all the 757 will be serving LBA-TFS a route of over 4 and a half hours duration. A route on which all the competing charter airlines from LBA offer a hot meal available to purchase.

This could be a good source of additional revenue for Jet2 on this long route.

Flyglobespan manage to fly 73Gs from GLA-ACE, even further north than LBE. Wonder what they do?

Jet2 did it properly in the catchment area.

Buses, billboards, radio ads...the brand is everywhere. Even Air Berlin are dipping into it now with billboards appearing in strategic places (one next to the CO work hard, fly right sign on the M602!)

Yep - it's all over the buses, shelters and billboards in Morecambe too, so they have a huge brand awareness.

Talking to a Jet2 employee last night who said Manchester loads are very good!

AMS and EDI will be available for winter booking next week.

Old news was Palma next summer and Geneva and Chambery this winter.

With regard to the B757's both are to be Leeds based, but the company were elvaluating getting another 2 for Manchester with a view to Transatlantic flights!

Time will tell.

Think one of the low cost operators is going to have to take the low cost transatlantic plunge!

So why not Jet2.

And Manchester has a distinct advantage to most other airports, its nearer to America!

There would certainly be a good demand for low fares between, say, the UK and US and Canada during the summer season, when ticket prices rocket (it's usual to pay £400+ during this season, even to NY). But the question is: what will happen during the low season, i.e. the winter, when airfares are, generally, very low ( it's common to pay £200 or less return)? Will the aircraft sit idle? If it (and the firm's staff) could be utilised effectively, perhaps to the Canary Islands during the winter, then all might be OK.

Two problems with no-frills, low-cost travel on longer flights are: 1) People are willing to pay more for more frills, e.g. more comfort and food. How will you convince people to fly transatlantic without any frills? The main answer would be absurdly low prices. But this might then beg the question: how low would you have to go? Or would you offer food and so on? If yes, this will increase your costs. A question: how far do you go? Soon enough you'll be barely cheaper than the competitors. 2) Aircraft and staff utilisation would be low, mainly because 1 aircraft could only perform 1 round trip per day. A way to alter this, perhaps, might be to fly to the US and back and then do a European run. This might be possible.

I've heard good things about Jet2, and would like to fly them NCE-MAN vv but their flight timings back to NCE are awful - leaves at 06:30, which is completely unreasonable ! Without online check-in, I'm afraid there's just no way.

I dont know so much. Monarch have shifted emphasis from being a charter carrier operating limited, quality scheduled services to sun destinations to being a hungry no-frills airline.

It seems Monarch are moving away from charters more and more as each year passes.

Alicante , Amsterdam, Budapest, Chambery, Edinburgh, Faro, Geneva, Ibiza, London LGW, Malaga, Murcia, Nice, Palma, Pisa, Valencia and Venice.

I'd assume BA offer more services than this. No?
