What To Do On Long Layover At IAH?

Hello...this is my first post in several months  Smile Anyway, i am flying CO from IND to SEA tomorrow morning and have almost 4 hour layover in Houston...can anyone recommend anything to do at IAH while i wait for my SEA flight? thanks and cheers.
The next generation of aircraft is just around the corner!

When are you going to be at IAH?

If you are there in the early-to-mid afternoon, you can head over to the international airlines building and see a good selection of foreign widebodies .... KLM, AF, BA, LH, and maybe PIA or China Airlines.
"Lose" is not spelled with two o's!!!!

I land at IAH at 8:30am and leave at 12:04pm
The next generation of aircraft is just around the corner!

Well, you'll probably miss most of the foreign widebodies.

I haven't been to IAH since they completed a big terminal renovation; the new Terminal E and International Airlines Building are supposed to be very nice. I'd check them out.

Terminal E is very nice. Check out the Skybox (Fox Sports food chain) for great views and giant tvs with tons of sports. Another "elevated" restaurant is Pappadeaux. It features cajun food/Gulf coast seafood, although your times at the airport don't really match up for that kind of meal! There are also several national chain type stores as well as some local ones like a NASA store and a Texana store in Terminal E.

If you want to get a pretty good view of the entire airport, take the train (the underground old one) to the Marriott Hotel on-site. There's a rooftop restaurant/bar there with great spotting.

If you want to just cruise around almost over the tarmacs, ride the tram between B and C/D/E.

I remember flying thru IAH when Eastern was in business...i would fly the PHL-IAH route often and we were always ending up in the circular concourses (which i believe are occupied by CO express).

That long layover might be a good thing. The weather delays in IAH have been horrendous....it's good to have extra time to spare.

Just yesterday I was at IAH... I left ONT at 0155 (Central) and arrived at IAH at 0550 (Central) and a meeting at IAH at 1100 (Central) So, no sleep in California, little sleep on the flight, and no place to sleep at IAH.

What did I do???

Well, I was in Terminal D...which at that hour, and with the move of CO to Termianl E was deserted. I found a quiet row of seats that overlooked the tarmac and just sat there and listened to my iPod. At around 0900, CO started moving a bunch of regional jets to the jetbridges and hardstands. At 1045 I went to my meeting and at 1540 I was on a flight to EWR.

That's what I did with my long "layover" at IAH yesterday!  Smile

From personal experience, there is not a damn thing to do at IAH.

Like others have said you could take the underground terminal train to the Marriott and get some good airside views from the terminal--you'd have to leave the secure area of course. At that time HP may have a theme 757 there, some CO heavies to Hawaii and maybe some interesting cargo birds.

Wear heavy clothing - they tend to refrigerate the place in the summer.

I agree there... 2 weeks ago my 1:45 connection became a run-my-arse-off connection because of wx delays, and my return trip through there was a 90 minute connection which I never would have come close to making if it weren't for the extremely helpful CO workers at my departure airport rebooking me to a different flight.  Smile
