A couple of weeks back I flew into Bristol Filton, there was a Southern Winds 747-200 there with one engine missing, anyone know why?

The B747-200 in Filton has never actually flown for Southern Winds, it was supposed to become their second aircraft.

Souther Winds is still active, their website is running either. Don't know what happened to the Argentinian passengers over there; didn't even hear about it.

It seems that Southern winds has been kicked out of IATA and people have been advise to have their tkts endorsed to other airlines. Does anybody have more detail information?

Southern Now has only two active aircrafts, both 732's, and have suspended MAD flights. They don't have anymore th 767 or the 742
The problem with the pax stranded is that when A4 initially suspended the flights, they were forwarding pax to other companies, mainly IB, and pay some 200€/pax to the other companies, but then they sropped paying, and the other companies stopped accepting A4 pax, therefore creating this chaos.
There was an article not so long ago that I posted here, the link is in spanish only.

A completely different question, a bit off-topic, but I do not want to open a separate thread for this: I am wondering if today's Southern Winds Airlines is 100% the same company that was originally set up in 2001.

At that time, Southern Winds intended to commence services (B757s and/or B767s were acquired), it was reported that the financial backing was (partially) made by Al-Qaida funds. At least, something like this was reported in a German aviation magazine. Then, the name Southern Winds disappeared for two or three years. Concerning the company's name and the routes served (from Spain to South America), I am just curious if today's Southern Winds is the same as the airline founded in 2001.

Any info welcome.
